Tbh, I’ll have a lot of respect for him if he steps down of his own accord at the end of the season. In such a cushy job without much pressure to do so it would be a final testament to how much he loves the club.

In no way would leaving show that he loves the club.
he loves the club because through asversity and despite his own short comings he dedicates every waking moment of his life to Arsenal.
Him leaving just shows he has accepted his limitations.

First of all I’ve never doubted his love for the club.
Second of all it would be perhaps the most impressive proof of his love for the club because it would be a kind of self-humiliation for the sake of the good of the club.

I don’t know why Wenger is stalling on announcing his future. A clarification from him will solve many issues for the club as well as stopping the press speculation. Seems selfish tbh the league and CL are both gone, those are the only trophies that would have barely even justified an extension.

I agree. If he is intending to step down it’d be nice to have a period where we can appreciate him. Despite the backlash against him, I believe most fans do in fact respect him and would give him a decent send off.
This period of uncertainty is unhealthy.

I’m guessing he a) hasn’t made his mind up totally and/or b) feels that announcing he won’t continue now might not be propitious to the team remaining unified and motivated the rest of the season.

Every new contract he plays this game… All i ask is…tell us one way or another then at least everyone knows where they stand… Really dont see the point of playing this game this time round its not helping the situation at all… Ends by giving one of those Wenger smirks…

leaving last summer would have been that. Everything else is pressure and an acceptance of limitations.

Nah he pretty much just confirmed it after they’d won the league. Difficult to say how long he knew himself before that.

Yeah they won it and sited something about his wife having had an operation or something.
He had also had an operation on his hip I think that season I think.
