Arsène Wenger

You bunch of negative fucks :joy: The club have done the right thing, how about being positive about AW for once rather than reminiscing about the shitty latter years, we all know they happened, we don’t need to break into negative debate every single time this thread is re-incarnated, be positive, there’s a lot of good shit going on right now!:sweat_smile:

New around here?

I blame @Ashgooner1

'Ave a large whiskey, me auld son.

Bit disappointed there wasn’t a ceremony for this?

Emirates cup would have been the perfect time to reveal, maybe Wenger was engaged

Arsène will be our guest of honour for the Emirates Cup match against AS Monaco on Wednesday, August 2, and will also be taking time to visit his statue in the forthcoming days.

My guess would be he didn’t want to be part of any ceremony. Not his style really.

Looking forward to seeing this at the Emirates. Looks a bit small from the pictures but maybe that’s just me.

Looking at this picture, reminds me why I will never dress up like this and play sports.

You only look good when you are in prime, muscles ripped,

When you are old, muscles gone, already can’t breathe two minutes into the game… it is sad.

That’s why I don’t watch the old timer’s game also… the contrast is just like heaven and hell.

Missed the trick by not renaming the stadium as Arsene Wenger stadium with a Wenger giant statue on top of it

but this will do for now.

When it was built I remember there being reasonable support for the stadium being called the Wengerdome :grinning:

Isn’t it weird to name a stadium after someone while they’re alive?

I know it’s been done in Latin countries but I can’t recall an English stadium named after someone while they were alive, would be hard to even find a stadium named after an individual in the country(unless I’m missing an obvious one).

Madjeski is the only one I can think of. And it’s not even really called that anymore.

Who calls the San Siro the Giuseppe Mezza is that not an ex player

James Richardson probably.

Inter fans call it the Giuseppe Meazza. He’s generally regarded to be an Inter legend despite having played for both clubs so Milan fans prefer to call it the San Siro for that reason.

Hearing Eddie talk about his chat with Arsene was heartwarming. Easy to forget he’s been around for so long and Wenger handed him his first appearances with us.

Some of the stuff I’ve seen on social media today has been wonderful.
Love him, hate him, discredit him, praise him, regardless he deserves respect.

Looking forward to seeing this in person in a few weeks. Great to see him honoured like this so he can be part of our history forever at the stadium.

Even without the statue, the Emirates Stadium is basically the peoject by Wenger and co, and no one will forget that, together with the invincible season.
