There was no such thing as a ‘juggernaut’ since clubs couldn’t stockpile the best players like City or PSG try to do now. Thank god for that because quite frankly the sport looks kind of dumb every passing season they do that.

Sampdoria and Barcelona were in the Cup Winners Cup final in 1989, and then met in the European Cup final in 1992. Same result both times with Barcelona triumphing. That just wouldn’t happen these days.
