What made them feel unsafe? Were they wearing Israel shirts?

Seems like some people creating a fuss and tying our name to it, the club couldn’t win here.

Not sure how anything beyond this is the clubs remit tbh.

The gathering took place in a public space outside Emirates Stadium, and it is not within our jurisdiction to stop protests taking place in public spaces. Instances where prohibited items were identified inside the stadium were dealt with swiftly by our stewards

The guts of the ten years before the pandemic that i worked in Dublin City there was almost every week a gathering/protest/rally outside the GPO for Palestine and often encouraging boycotts of Isreali companies etc. it was never anything other than a group of placid people with some leaflets and maybe a petition. I just cant imagine this was any different.

I think most people of the Jewish faith are smart enough to know that objections to Israel’s political decision to do a genocide isn’t antisemitic. And I would hope most of the protestors also don’t blame the Jewish community in London for Israel’s illegal war.

It was such a big demo that I walked past it without noticing.

It’s not AFC’s job to be police. World’s fucking mad.

When is that comet coming again!?

We’re into the League Cup final. Any trophy would be good. The 31st March is going to be a big day for both teams.

I wonder if Arsenal even raised the protest as a concern. The club has considerable influence in the local area so whilst I don’t think they’re due any criticism I’d like to think they raised concern for fan safety if a political demonstration of any kind was occurring near the stadium on match day.

Indoctrination is a hell of drug my friend.

I can only guess what it’s like what with me being a hard-line, radical atheist.

Not that different from being a hard-line anything tbh but the idea that criticism of Israel is inherently anti-Semitic isn’t really tied to one’s level of religious observance. Plenty of secular or even atheist Jews might espouse stuff like that.

I was joking about being a “hard-line, radical” atheist. It’s a comical notion to me.

But it’s true that I can’t imagine what it’s like to believe in a god. Though when mum died and people said things about her watching down from above I kind of got why it gives believers some comfort in bad times.

Yeah, the Judaism that I was raised with doesn’t really subscribe to that type of heavenly angels, halos and etc. stuff. I grew up in a pretty typical 1990s form of progressive North American Judaism, it was very much about doing good while you’re alive (there was a big emphasis on environmentalism).

But yeah, I can see that being comforting.

That sounds way cooler than my Christian upbringing.

My grandad pulled me to one side when I was about 7, Nan was talking about the bible and he whispered “It’s a load of old shit, don’t believe a word of it”.

Thanks Grandad, even though you’re nowhere anymore.

It’s just very different. I had a teacher who argued that you didn’t even have to believe in God to still practice Judaism. I think a lot of us have been raised to think of Judaism as this very Western religion similar to Christianity just without Jesus but it’s really difficult to categorize imo.

Anyway, how bout that Villa scoreline? Stina hat trick.

I know, what a result. They seem to be finally clicking.
I hope they move the time of the final, last time I looked, kick-off was 3pm on Sunday 31st March, meaning both teams will be playing their biggest games of the season so far at roughly the same time.

Apparently we’re interested in signing Daphne van Domselaar, Dutch NT goalkeeper. She’s a top top talent. Would be delighted with this.

I’m relatively new here but just wanted to say how much I love awfc. I used to play years ago but after suffering an injury that was never dealt with due to no real support for female players at the time where I live, I had to give up the one thing I loved most in the world. skip to many (many) years later and I randomly came across an Arsenal Women’s match, needless to say I was hooked and although I can’t physically make it to their matches I try to watch as many as possible, and thanks to those amazing players I have fallen back in love with the game. So thank you so much girls
