I’m not gonna pretend I follow the women’s team properly or anything but it’s bollocks if we let this side of the club slip. We had the elite set up and we’re seemingly gonna fuck it away.

One of the things I always admired about Arsenal was that they cared about the whole club – Women and the under squads. I remember Liverpool basically ignoring their women’s team, so much so, that they were basically Tranmere Women. I liked that we were not like that. But I guess we will be soon.

It sounds like this is community football kind of stuff in parks, not academy player development.
So it’s a shit move from a “classy club” but I doubt it has any negative sporting repercussions for the women’s team or is in any way Arsenal giving up on it.

Oh well no, not directly by this one thing. But think Tim Stillman was referring to the overall picture. He has been banging this drum for a while now. Arsenal aren’t investing as much in their women’s team as they used to. Given the price of wages etc in the women’s game, an extra million or so could probably win us the league.
The reason Lyon Women are so good is because their club invests in it. They spend more a year than every other club by some distance. But it’s still not even that much. Maybe £8m/£9m a year. It’s still pocket change to these big clubs. It’s Pepe’s right arm.
