Hope Pepe starts again. We better win this, because after there’s the longest and dullest interlull of the season. I always hate it.
Good news
Let’s smash these fuckers
As much as I don’t buy into this notion that Auba, Laca and Pepe HAVE to play together and any team selection without all three in it doesn’t make sense, I do think we should start them as a front three in this particular match. I think we can potentially rattle this Spurs side in a way that they can’t quite get at us, unlike with Liverpool. This front three in a derby could make all the difference.
I do hope he goes with it this time. And Torreira, for fucks sake please start Torreira.
I find it weird with Emery and Torreira, even in the 2nd part of the season he cooled off on him. I know it caught up with Torreira in the second half of the season but he didn’t feature that much by the end of the season. I definite think Torreira, Guendouzi and Willock for me on Sunday.
I hope he starts the front three but I don’t see it happening.
Most overrated player in the PL, cause he’s English the press talk him up. But beside one season, when everything was going right for him. He’s done nothing since for them in the past two seasons, and he’s just a unlikeable twat of the highest degree.
He’s definitely an annoying git that will probably raise his game or do some dirty bits - hope VAR is watching (oh wait, they don’t do fouls).
Yeah I find it strange also. He did have a real dip in the winter period last season and never quite got a firm place in the starting XI back, even though I think he should’ve been used more.
I think it’s obvious to most people who watch Arsenal that someone with his skillset is necessary in the middle of the park for us, and I don’t even think he can’t do what the other names in the midfield conversation can. He may not have the range of pass of a Xhaka for instance, but on the ball he’s good enough and his other strengths mean that he’s simply a better fit for us than Xhaka and will be more of a benefit to us overall.
If you ask me who I’d rather have at the base of our midfield, particularly in a North London derby, well it’s going to be Torreira over anyone else in this squad.
I think we can compensate having the madness front three of Auba x Laca x Pepe given spurs’s flaky displays of recent. Laca is a big game player and I think that merits him a place. Auba is Auba and I believe we need to keep playing Pepe to get him up to speed/learn his new team.
Other than that, the team pretty much picks itself. Emery’s insistence to use Xhaka will sadly continue. Torreira needs to come in, even if it’s in place of Willock, who has been brilliant lately. Godouzi is a must for his engine alone.
I feel confident we’ll get a good result here. Spurs are there for the taking.
Yeah I think our front three would really unsettle them, but I wouldn’t be complaining if all of them didn’t start. I think some undervalue the usefulness of keeping a player of their quality on the bench and bringing them on fresh after 60 minutes; look at the impact Laca and Ramsey had in the same fixture last season.
I’d be perfectly fine with a midfield three of Torreira, Xhaka and Guendouzi. Willock has been very promising but I think for this match he should definitely come out and make way for Lucas.
Can’t decide if Divey starting would be a good or bad thing for us, but if it’s him that dives to get the pen that Kane scores, I will be seething
I wouldn’t be too troubled by him besides his diving. Has had one good season, two or three years back and hasn’t reached those heights since. He be involved in some trouble no doubt in the 90 minutes but in terms of him been a danger on the game, Erikesen and Kane worry me more.
I expect them to raise their game a bit against us, probably a high scoring match, similar to last seasons win (4-2) to happen here again. Hoping Pepe can score his first goal here.
The below vid is one of my favourite NLD moments… I remember still jumping around from the 1st goal by the time Cesc scored.
My favourite NLD experience
10 years ago already
Have to admit that’s the most buzzed I’ve been after an NLD. Bit gutted it was a Sunday as I wanted to go out after it I was so up for it but couldn’t as it was a Sunday afternoon
Rumour has it that it was from this moment onwards Mills decided to hate Arsenal
Imagine selecting Harry Winks
Danny Mills probably hadn’t even seen Pépé or Ceballos play before this season. Just putting those two in the team based on hype.
Mills has hated on us for years. I’m only surprised he didn’t pick 11 Spurs players,
It was great. All that talk of a power shift under 'Arry and I just laughed because there was and never will be such things (oh I wish I was that naive now)
All the pundits were predicting a Tottenham win. And they got fucked.
Cesc and RVP proper fucked them. Unbelievable scenes.
Cesc kills them, then Palacios fucks up and Cesc kills them again
Didn’t even see the 2nd goal love as was too busy celebrating the first.
Ahh, those were the days. Wengerball. :wenger2:
