I’ve been saying this for the last couple of seasons.
The board want nothing more than supporters expectation levels to be lowered.
This is probably why the club are leaking stories about Vieira being the front runner so that when they announce Arteta, the supporters will be so relieved it’s not Vieira.
The word fallible is probably the nicest thing anyone has about the board and owner.
I can think of plenty of words to describe our owner and fallible would be way down the list.
I don’t think it’s a conspiracy that the board are happy with the supporters expectations being lowered, it’s exactly what they want and choosing Arteta over any proven, top European manager is proof of this
It’s not proof of anything. There’s nothing wrong with trying a young coach with fresh and modern ideas. Someone who has the potential of building a project over the next few years.
There’s no way we are going to be fixed overnight, so I have no problem with us risking it with Arteta.
That’s ok for clubs like Watford and Southampton.
This club has been going down the pan for several seasons and we need the most experienced manager we can get, not a novice like Arteta.
He’s not even a manager at this stage though so he doesn’t actually fit this criteria. He’s just young and even then the majority of the top coaches in the game (Klopp, Pep, Conte, Allegri etc) are all around 50+ anyway.
