We lost against then in the 2018 League Cup final.
We beat City in the 2017 and 2020 FA Cup semi finals at Wembley.
We beat City in the 2014-15 Community Shield at Wembley.
So in terms of form, think that means: W W L W

Do people usually have an issue with who plays in this pre season friendly? Or is it only when we’re in it?
Personally think the way it is now is fine anyway. I think it’s harder to finish second in the league than second in the FA Cup.
Pep saying some of his team aren’t ready for this match, suggesting he’s not happy with their pre-season effort and is managing fan’s expectations or he’s trying to lull us into a false sense of hope.
I’m not feeling positive, I think our performance will come down to whether our new midfield clicks today.
Ramsdale, Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, White, Partey, Rice, Martinelli, Odegaard, Saka, Trossard please. That’s a bloody good team on paper.
No, it just highlights that the League Cup is a tinpot cup, sorry Utd.
Seriously though, is that the Arsenal fan saying “rewarding failure”? We’ve got some proper weirdo “fans” in the fanbase.
Always an agenda when it’s Arsenal, I haven’t heard this bullshit rhetoric for about 30 years…
I think the best solution would be to play the Premier League winners against the Championship winners in the Communitiy Shield.
Or maybe the PL and the Bundesliga winners.
Although, yeah, maybe the Conference League winners make the most sense in the end
You’re used to seeing a lot of dumb comments around football, but this really tops everything I’ve seen lately.
I hope they’re just trolling.
The look on that guys face after they mention the League cup winners (which is an OK suggestion)…
And THEN the other guy makes things even worse… Speaks about “rewarding failure” and then goes on to say it should be “THE TEAM THAT PLAYED IN THE FA CUP FINAL or the team that wins the League cup”
If even our own fans in the media don’t big us up we’ll never get a favourable look lol
The topic is stupid anyway, reward the failure in the fa cup instead? Or have 16 criteria and a potential united v West Ham playoff to see who plays city in a shield people hardly care about? Get a grip
Easiest default is 2nd place when a team wins a double, makes sense to me.
Also where was this energy in 2019 when city played second placed Liverpool in it
For my entire life this is what has happened if a club does the league and FA cup double, this is the first time I’ve ever heard anyone have anything to say about it. But we do live in different times, there was no online culture in the nineties, so no clickbaiting and attention grabbing like there is these days (aside from the attention grabbing, back page headlines designed to shift papers, but this sort of take would never get that slot), when every shitcunt media pundit wants to go viral with their provocative hot take.
I guess you could give the slot to the league cup champion instead, but really, who gives a solitary fuck anyway?
Nice
Sounds excellent on paper. Let’s hope it works out on the pitch.
Is Kevin de Bruyne available?
Where will Havertz play?
I could see him played as a 9. Could also envision him as Ødegaard’s replacement at times.
Havertz as the new Xhaka looked feasible on paper but leaves us light defensively. That should be shelved unless we’re chasing a game imho
Havertz will probably play on the bench
Didn’t leave light against Man Utd or Barca tbf.
Not sure I buy the Twitter rumours just yet. It is interesting to see who plays up top today though.
