Surprised by the calm with which the Ospina decision has been received. I think it’s absolutely mental.
When we beat Bayern last season, Cech had an absolute stormer. I couldnt care less what rotation policy is, when you play BAYERN MUNICH in the Champions League, you select your best keeper and that absolutely is Cech.
For all the talk of team selection and lineups it’ll mean nothing if we show up as disorganised as we have been for most of this season. Some of those goals we conceded to Watford and Chelsea were just diabolical. Whatever the lineup we absolutely have to defend well as a team from back to front. Completely unlike how Barca went about their business last night. Can’t afford to give those midfield pockets away like we did against Hull. If Coquelin was still covering gaps like he was in 2015 he would been a definite starter but at the moment he’s a real hindrance.
I’m proper looking forward to this one now. No matter how out of shape we look, Champions League knockout games will always get me excited about football again.
I just hope we go there with a well excuted game plan, and don’t give them any silly goals or advantages to Bayern. This is the most comfident I’ve felt about a knockout game vs Bayern, in fact the most confident I’ve felt about a knockout game in about the past six years (forgot about the Monoco game…).
Regardless of whether we win/lose/draw tonight, I’d like us to go into the 2nd leg with more than blind hope.
Xhaka owes us a performance and Dat Guy is in form. It could be the Hofbrau talking but i expect us to score an away goal (unlike last nights fixtures) and for us to come away with a positive result
