Arsenal transfers 25/26

It would have been a mirror image.

How lucky are the Ivory coast. :upside_down_face:

Honestly, pretty lucky. I’d love to have two players like that on the flanks for NI lol

Well you’d just be grateful to have a team of actual footballers

I’m sure they’d of liked George Best

Never heard of him

Fabrizio says he’s not a replacement for Vlahovic.

All this bullshit about him not being sold. Maybe that’s because we haven’t fucking talked to him yet and neither has anyone else making up this bollocks.

Interesting rumours about Dusan Vlahović and consistent reports that he isn’t keen on a move to Arsenal. Looks like a great talent, but I don’t want anyone at the club who isn’t sold on and committed to the project. Worst thing would be to get him and then he pushes for a move after one or two good seasons.

Goes for pretty much any up and coming talents.

You aren’t signings lifers in this game unless you’re at the top.

I think we are doing pretty well at the moment at building a good young team. This is just the start and things are looking good.

That’s cool but my point is that you can’t necessarily avoid players that may possibly use this club as a stepping stone especially if you want the best young talent.

I’m ultimately confident if we end up signing him it’s because all parties are happy with the deal and circumstances. If that changes down the line that’s a different matter.

Sometimes a player has to be convinced, so what? You can’t expect they know really anything about the club until it’s laid out to them.

I am too but it’s a little idealistic to think they stay together for long without success very quickly.
Do you not have concerns about that. Id give 18 months tops before we are fending off someone for one of these lads.
You need CL next season and a good showing for the following season too.
Could happen but it’s going too be very hard keeping everything on track.

Is it? I don’t think players like him are aware of the ongoings at Arsenal. Even if you try and explain. They just see City (and Juventus/Liverpool in the past) win and dominate. That’s what they care about. Only reason a guy like him would come is by paying hefty wages imo.

I’d say the worst thing would be going another season or two with a set of two to four strikers who are pretty much all gonna struggle to get ten league goals each lol. That’d be much worse than having a potentially excellent striker wanting to leave in two years.

Two years of excellent striker is not the worst thing. We had about two years of excellent Auba before he turned to total shit, that was better than never having him imo. If only the issue was Auba agitating for a big move that bags us a fat wedge of cash to recoup what we spent on him, rather than turning to total shit and looking like he’s worth relative peanuts, while not offering us any goals or anything else that’s useful. Not a striker, but also, see Ozil.

Selling him on to a big team for a profit in a couple years would also be much better than it going the same way Pepe has, where a few years later he not even worth half what we paid and hasn’t even come close to representing value for money.

I’d rather have two years of an excellent striker than four or five years of an average striker like Giroud or Lacazette.

I know I’m in danger of taking your use of ā€œworst thingā€ far too literally, so apologies, but I really do think that buying an excellent striker and selling him on for a profit after two excellent seasons really is much better than quite a few alternative scenarios and that that’s a point worth making.

Yeah, we can’t not sign someone just because they might leave after a couple of seasons. What is the alternative?

Only date ugly guys because there is less risk of them cheating?

The additional positive in this situation is that the top striker elevates us to another level which then makes us more attractive to other players, or potentially the once doubtful player realises he is in a good situation and wants to stay longer than a couple of years.

We badly need a midfielder signing this month. @GC-Maniac you have any good news for us on that front?!

Nothing that hasn’t been posted so far. I guess have faith in Arteta and Edu to get someone in? :joy:
