He’s alright. I haven’t seen that much of him.
He is always on the bench. Usually gets about 10 or 20 minutes. So it’s hard to judge him.
Who is Swedish here? I forget. They have probably seen more of him
One of the best around on FM
Kulusewski was fantastic for Sweden, he was arguably their most important player at the Euros and I think quite a lot of pundits were surprised at his lack of game time at Juventus.
Isak was better.
Whenever I watch Kulusevski for Juve he’s always a frustrating bastard. Tbf, Chiesa was the same for me.
Having both of them on is the worst. The both try to do everything on their own, trying to dribble past 3-4 players every time and try to be the hero. At least Chiesa does it more successfully than Dejan but tbf to the latter he is still young af.
He’s young (21), raw. Signed for Juve early, then went on loan to Parma, had a good spell, got back to Juve and Pirlo played him a lot on the right when Ronaldo was there. He had a good season, but like most young players that aren’t the absolute top 5-10 in the world it’s up and down. Since Allegri came back he’s been a bit off form, not starting games much.
He’s good for us in the NT (he’s playing rn, we just kicked off vs Georgia) but it’s a different thing with the PL (look at Lindelöf who is great for us in the NT every time just like he was for Benfica but much like Maguire, AWB etc. who looked good prior they don’t look that great atm at United).
Beside a short spell he doesn’t have tremendous output (similar to Saka). He’s good physically. All in all he is a good player but not at all convinced he would be for us, we already have a very young squad and struggle with direct output and goals. So for free sure why not but paying money for him? I think there are better options.
Not particularly impressed anytime that I see him play for Juventus but I just don’t think his style is suited to Juventus and his talent will be much better harnessed elsewhere.
My feelings exactly. He just fills me with a lot of meh.
We don’t need another player who tries to beat six guys at once, we already have Pepe to do that. On the other hand, Juventus have been a bit of a meh side the last 18 months. I don’t want us doing them any favors helping them with their finances, so I’d fork over maybe 10-15m.
Would anyone take him here?
We just need a striker beginning with S and we can have triple S as our forwards
Me
Definitely, at that price.
Hundred percent. Price is decent but id imagine the wages would be high.
Top talent to supplement decent young players and proven winner.
If we could sell Pepe, but would be hard for even 30m.
I do think we need to get rid of either Martinelli (preferably via loan) or Pepe and get another winger who has more of the all-around game necessary to thrive in Arteta’s system.
I don’t really like Sterling for that role for a few reasons though. First, he’s a big enough name and will be on such big wages that its going to be hard to keep him out of the team, at a time when I really like how ESR and Saka are developing as our two wingers. Second, I think ideally the player we bring in would also be able to play through the middle because once Lacazette goes we don’t really have cover for Odegaard unless you want to pull ESR off the left, where he is thriving. Finally, I think there is a legitimate worry that Sterling will be a guy that experiences age-related decline very early due to the amount of football he played early in his career. Sterling is only 26 but he has played more minutes of first team football in his career than Lacazette, Mane, or Son. He could effectively be a 26-year-old in a 29 or 30-year-old’s body.
Oh come on. I get the age related thing if he’s had time out the game on bad injuries. Twenty six and no major injury to impact his body. Nah that’s a stretch for me.
Saka and ESR can’t play every game. There’s plenty of minutes to go around. We have got to get out of this Wenger mindset.
It can happen. Wayne Rooney never had a major injury and his last year of really dominant play was the year he turned 26.
If you think Sterling has experienced zero physical decline and is exactly the same player he was a few years ago, then why has he been in shit form for an entire year and why has Pep gone from relying on him heavily to basically not rating him at all?
I heard people say he had a bad season last season .
He made 31 appearances though in a title winning season.
He was clearly with a question mark hanging over him, England’s best player in the Euros. Who or what do we have better than him in our squad.
Please lets not get bogged down on this project youth at the expense over quality available players.
International football is a weird beast. Southgate made him the centerpiece of the team and he did fairly well, but his contribution was prioritized and I don’t think he faced true competition for his place in the team.
Pep clearly doesn’t rate him anymore and wants him gone. He was dropped for all the latter CL knockout games until the final, where Reece James embarrassed him. He has started only four of City’s 15 PL and CL matches this fall.
He’ll cost 45m and > 300k per week wages. The risk is huge both financially and in terms of how he changes the team. There are better options out there and we’re in position to get them because football is broke outside of England. Its not about project youth, its about being smarter than we’ve been in the past. Spunking the bulk of our next transfer kitty on Sterling for 45m and 300k wages despite all the red flags is like a Raul Sanllehi move.
