I think it could be credible as well. Martinez would be an amazing signing. However, I’m going to go full fantasy football for a second and suggest two swap deals:
Bellerin + money for Lautaro Martinez
Laca + money for Saul Níguez
With Bellerin, Laca and Xhaka all going, and possible Willian, we could afford to offer the two of them big wages to sign a long term contract.
so that will take £2.50 off Martinez’s fee then.
£70m for Martinez plus another £10m to take Bellerin.

Anyway, good player but too inexperienced to replace Xhaka imo. Although, White is also inexperienced and we broke the bank for him to replace Luiz.
If we were to take that route I would definitely go with Caqueret instead.
You not think you’re being a bit harsh with this? I actually think his experience is quite impressive and exactly the type of CV you want for a young player just stepping into their prime.
People always say we miss the boat with players like Grealish, Maddison Buendia etc who put the work in at championship level and then step up wonderfully.
Though in regard to the French league I do worry about all but the most elite of talents moving from there.
He’s better than Xhaka and more suited to playing in the PL, experience is overrated.
When you’re good, you’re good and Guimarães definitely is.
Guimaraes, Partey and Ødegaard could actually be a very good midfield if they gelled together.
I’d be very keen to see us sign Guimaraes but so unlikely that we sign both him and Ødegaard

Don’t think his CV is impressive but rather promising.
He edges it for me because I’ve wached more of him in comparison to Locatelli but both would be good signings for us.
Upgrades on Xhaka for sure, if we could could actually get shot of him we wouldn’t be spending too much more on either.
