I’d be ok with that, as long as he took a massive cut in wages.
I do like the idea of Coutinho coming here, he’s a very talented player and would instantly be one of our best technicians. Saying that I can’t help but feel we are getting absolutely fucked financially on Guendou, he’s a huge asset and it feels like we’re letting him go for next to nothing.
A few games for Barca and PSG will be coming to them with big money for the young midfielder, this just feels like we’re losing out on a payday.
So we’re joining the rest of the football world and helping clubs like Barcelona balance the books.
I’m not complaining. I think it’s the direction the sport is moving. A lot of these swap deals will be done in that way now.
lol
I’m calling BS.
I don’t really see Ceballios and Coutinho as like for like if I’m being honest. Especially this second half of the season where Ceballios has added a real tenacious determination to his defensive efforts.
Totally agree. Why waste an asset like that to secure a questionable guy like Coutinho? It’s really disappointing if that’s how we sell him.
Didn’t Barce come out and say they didn’t want Guen a few days ago?
Knowing Barcelona, they’d sign him and then immediately loan him to PSG for a ridiculous fee or something shady like that.
Why are people so high on Guen? I just don’t see it. The fact no one wants to buy him says allot.
We’re literally talking about the biggest club in the world wanting to acquire him.
Barce said they weren’t interested this week. Real haven’t shown any interest to my knowledge
Coutinho as a direct(ish) swap for Guendouzi looks good on paper. Coutinho is an elite talent imo.
I just worry about the economics of it all. Coutinho will be on a massive contract and there’s absolutely zero guarantee he reproduces his Liverpool form for us (and in what position?!).
He has a very direct style of creativity, but he can certainly lay on a pass and weave / jink through the lines. Feels like the sort of player we would need to accommodate rather than slot into the system, unless we put him at LW. At the tip of a midfield 3 it makes sense too I suppose.
If we were somehow able to pull Partey out of the bag, a mf 3 of Partey with Ceballios and Coutinho in front of him would be very exciting. As it stands now though I’m in agreement that our setup doesn’t really suit him. But then again our setup seems to suit no one, it’s something that Arteta needs to change, and a refurb of the midfield would be an ideal place to start.
I think you’ve summed it up there tbh. Think of him as an Alexis replacement 2 1/2 years on
Irregardless of where he plays, I think getting rid of Guendouzi, and replacing him with a player of the calibre of Coutinho is an awesome deal… Full stop!
100 percent
Can’t wait till we get rid of that curly haired wanker
Sad thing is though Calum, as I’ve said before, I do rate him… But, we have been too soft with our players for far too long, it’s about time that they all realised who they are playing for! If they don’t like it… Then get rid!
It seems Guendouzi really might end up being a 100m player. OA got his valuation bang on.
They swapped Arthur for Pjanic…their current regime knows nothing bruh. Or financially we don’t understand the mess that they are in.
We helped a lot dragging his name through the mud though. That definitely didn’t do him any favours. He’s still one of the best young talents in football. If he were humble up a bit and manage reach his potential he would probably be one of the most successful players of his generation.
