Arsenal transfers 25/26

Would you give him an extension or let him walk in 2022?

I think it’s unlikely you will get a fee for him, if you extend him. So let him walk.

It’s not all doom and gloom if this happens. His goals next season could potentially get us CL football in 21/22. He could still change his mind at some point next season and re-sign then.

Worst case scenario, he leaves on a free next season and goes to Liverpool/Manchester United/Manchester City/Chelsea. Spurs won’t be able to offer his wages so rule them out.

In that situation, we’ve got his best years out of him. I know a couple of posters have said that Auba could go on for at least 3 seasons after we get rid in 2021. I can’t see it. The only player who I can think of that has gone on at that pace until the age of 35 is that freak of nature Cristiano Ronaldo.

I don’t know.
Most of his best performances have been when he’s injured because he makes fewer mistakes. :grinning:

Allegedly knows people at Palace.

This is blowing up on Twitter now. Now everybody’s giving it the good old ā€œI was told this earlierā€, ā€œMy sources can confirm thisā€. Fuck right off.
Nonsense rumour, sorry lads.

Zaha to Arsenal #prayforstroller

To be fair, those frauds are just putting 2+2 together.
Palace is interested in a couple of young talents and they want to get them early(before other teams join the bidding war). Palace need the money so they’ll probably need to sell Zaha in the next 2-3 weeks. He’s also on 150k pw I believe.

Btw @Stroller, why do you not like Zaha?

I’m with Stroller. I’d pass on Zaha. His style of play attracts a lot of fouls which is good if near or in the penalty area. He was an absolute penalty winning machine the season before last, but that’s really it in terms of end product. Not an outstanding passer of the ball, nor does he possess elite vision. Maybe that awareness could be improved by Arteta but at 27, that seems unlikely.

Memphis Depay is the forward that we should be after. Can potentially play as the #9 keeping Aubameyang as the wide forward which I think is Arteta’s preference. Has the attributes that are missing from Zaha’s game.

Memphis is a good shout… seems to have evolved into a very dangerous player.

He doesnt possess a footballing brain. Hes an individualist who can dribble but wont fit a team approach. He is very easy too nullify for the opposition which in turn would make him redundant for a better team than Palace.
Guarantee he would end up frustrating the life out of fans here, with things breaking down constantly.
His natural game wouldnt fit in or be adjustable enough too accommodate here.
@Flexo nailed it.

I wouldn’t agree he has no footballing brain, he does pretty well considering that he’s regularly doubled up on game to game.

Wouldn’t surprise me to see his productivity spike in better team in which the attack is not so predictable due to lesser players around him, personally wouldn’t be too keen on signing him and would definitely be opting for the likes of Depay over him but your assessment is way too scathing for a player that plays alongside very little quality since he returned from Uinted.

A lot of money in the premiership and some very big name managers. If he was this gem people make out, no matter the price he would of been picked up.
We see plenty of clubs like Everton spend 50 million on players and yet nobody has gone near him. He is a very average talent who looks pleasing on the eye at times, but flatters to deceive.

Palace were demanding Ā£80mil which is far too much for him which is why he wasn’t snapped up, hed’ be here already if it wasn’t for him signing the last contract.

Doesn’t mean he isn’t a good player.

Yeah but he has been around longer than last years price. Hes 27 and not really progressed enough in that time for someone to buy him.
Them quoting an exorbitant price doesnt make him a top player. He is the biggest fish in a small pond.

Don’t rhink anyone is calling him a top player mate haha

He can be good and I’d wonder what he’d do in a better team but yeah I woulnd’t advocate signing him, better options out there for us.

Interesting, I can’t say I’ve watched him on a weekly basis but I have watched about 20-30 games where he played the past two seasons. I’ve yet to see a team that managed to nullify him(and that includes City and Liverpool).
It’s usually the same thing with Palace. Palace win the ball, they pass it to Zaha, he has usually no options(except Patrick on a good day), Zaha starts a run, every step he makes more and more people join in to mark him. It usually takes at least 3 people, even up to 5/6.
He’s making a fool of them all(yes, even van Dijk), somehow, someway he gets in a good position, he’ll usually have two options: a) finish it himself under pressure, b) set up a Palace player so he can waste it.
Granted, most of the matches I’ve seen were against good/top opposition. I have heard that’s when he puts his game face on and turns into Ronaldinho.
So maybe I haven’t seen the bad side of him yet.

The intent is right but I will celebrate when I see it happen. I am optimistic about this summer window but getting rid of all those players in one window, given the pandemic, will take some doing.

Hopefully we have already put out feelers for those players and received a few inquiries. We need to sell before we can buy. Will be an interesting next few weeks.
