Being followed the most means nothing in regards to the product…the only thing that it says is that the marketeers have been better at selling the PL. only Real and Barcelona matter and yet Atletico still manages to compete with them. That’s kind of a big deal.
You didn’t get the point.
Playing in PL gets you exposure. Exposure will get you more opportunities(in football and out of football).
Players have ambition for trophies when they’re young. In general, most pro careers last 10-15 years.
In 2020, players need to look at the big picture. That’s where good managers come to set them straight.
Thomas Partey is not going to join Arsenal for the potential exposure he gets.
No, he wants to join Arsenal for the multiple reasons I mentioned above.
If Partey leaves Atletico Madrid it will be because he wants to play in the PL and because we will probably triple his wages. London is still a massive draw for foreign players, as is the PL. Arsenal remain a big club, but form over recent seasons, especially this one, will be a concern. But money talks and the player may like the idea of being part of a project aimed at making the club successful again.
I think the allure of the PL is money rather than stature. I think largely most players in their later 20s would have grown up with Serie A and La Liga being bigger leagues than the PL. And for most of the last decade gone Europe was largely dominated by Spanish teams anyway.
I think we overstate the reputation of the PL in other European countries. It certainly has a big global market in developing Asian and African nations but in Europe, I’m not sure the PL is a huge deal to a player plying his trade for a top team in Spain (by top team I mean one of the big 3).
If he joins that will be because of big wages and that is he done at Atletico/needs a new environment. More than that it isn’t.
Decent player that can challenge Xhaka’s spot in the team and he’s still young at 23. Thoughts @SRCJJ?
Was surprised when Napoli let go of him as he seemed to be quite the prospect. Not the best time with Roma, but I would still take him in a heart beat. Under the guidance of Arteta you’d hope he could realise his potential.
Holding + Nelson + Cash could be a good package for Zaha
Please. You can send them Willock too.
My 10 year old PC, PS3, Original Xbox could be a good package for your new PS5, deal?
All of those players are dispensable. Great to hear that we are looking for another CB and want to clear the decks of the BASTARD SHITE we have in that area of the squad.
However, I’ve always liked Torreira. I think he has a lot more to his game than just being a terrier / good presser. But the way we are trying to play doesn’t really suit a player with his particular skill-set. I’d still prefer us to keep him but if a good £30m+ offer comes in then we can reinvest that to buy more pure Arteta players.
I can still recall his dominant and magnificently aggressive performances in Arteta’s first couple of big games (versus United and Chelsea iirc). Would be sad to see him leave because I think in the right system, he can be a really big player.
I like Torreira too but I’m not gonna lie, if Partey comes and Ceballos stays then he’ll warm the bench for most of next season. Not an ideal situation.
His agent has made apparently made some questionable statements in the past. If those statements were legit and he actually misses Italy(or moreso doesn’t like England) then we should move him on. We can recuperate what we paid for him.
No mention of Xhaka…
Who’d have thought we’d have a manager who wants to get rid of all the shitters in our squad.
Anybody really think Mustafi will go? If his injury is serious then there’s no point for a buyer to commit to him now. They can get him next year.
…you have to be an idiot to not do that… although, isn’t that what we did with Cedric?
I know maybe we could sell him to ourselves

Not sure there even is a market which will lead to a good offer for Aubameyang…let alone we can sell Lacazette for a decent price. I think we are stuck with him.
I think Sokratis’ agent has already said that he is going/wants to stay.
