Arsenal transfers 25/26

Think we’ve got enough youth in the squad. Tonali is far better than Wharton or Anderson, so the fact he is a few years older doesn’t bother me. Lewis Skelly, Nwaneri and Dowman are young and can play centrally. We can afford to spend on proven quality.

If we ended the window with only 2 players (Tonali and say Alvarez), I’d be booking a week off next May for the parade.

Tonali Rice Zubi and MLS.

Yes and yes. If we win everything we pray we will in May. We need to go again with quality players at their peak

I’ve been waiting for today’s game to give an evaluation of the transfers, so here goes;

Gyokeres - I wanted him to be the guy to ease any striker doubts, but arsenal football doesn’t play to his strengths and exposes his weaknesses a bit too much. He’s trying and improving through the season though.

Mosquera - Really impressed! And underrated. Could be one of the best signings of any prem team in the summer. A bargain and great for the future too.

Zubimendi - Honestly, i don’t see 60mil worth. He’s intelligent positionally but a very safe passer and typifies the risk averse label that arteta gets sometimes. Not as transformative as he was being built up to be.

Eze - Pretty disappointed. I expected so much more contribution sooner.

Madueke - So much pace but not much control. I do like how he appears to enjoy being at the arsenal though

Kepa - no problem with him before today. Is it too much to ask to be reliable when called on.

Norgaard - Can’t really ask any more from the game time he’s had.

Hincapie - good bit of business for a loan. He’s done well to nail down a place ahead of already established players.

Anyone here a regular watcher of french football?

Not really a fan of this deal watched him a couple times since the links and don’t see anything about him that makes me think he’s got something special in him.

Let’s stick to someone like Tonali who immediately improves our midfield.

Last summer window was an absolute stinker.

I’ll still be saying that when we win the league

Same.

Dude is being hyped up as the next big thing in France. Apparently France and Morocco are fighting to get him to commit to their NT?
Watched him a couple times now.
I’m struggling to see what the hype is about.

I haven’t noticed any outstanding quality of his. I guess he’s young and tall, but if that’s what people are clinging on then…

Yep. Our midfield is not stronger despite an £80m spend and our attack has more depth without really adding quality at a cost of £120m roughly.

We added numbers which have saved our season but we haven’t really upgraded any position.

I understand why Morocco are fighting we lack quality in our midfield. But France? I don’t see how he breaks into that team.

Tbh I didn’t see a player that was any better than Guendouzi

Might be room for two with Zubi being homesick (I might have just made that part up) :pires2:

Does Bouaddi work well off the ball while playing it very very safe in possession? If yes, there’s a 92.5% chance Arteta brings him in.

Yep, exact same thought past my mind watching him.

I believe his underlying stats are very good(the context of where he plays should be accounted for of course) but watching him you’d really struggle to notice him.

If it weren’t for being a lanky dude with long hair you may not even realise he was playing.

Maybe that’s the point, I dunno. Honestly think if we were to sign him he’d get lost in the shuffle very quickly and goes the Lokonga route.

Are you being serious? This entire forum is jam packed with Ligue 1 watchers. Everyone here was watching every single game when Saliba was on loan there. I’m honestly surprised this is still an Arsenal forum tbh.

:pires2:

Should have posted it in his thread.

Sidenote: Not that the bar is high there but he was really good in the games against Spurs. Rice and Saka will have competition when it comes to set pieces if we sign him.

For the fee he’d cost, no thanks. I’d rather throw that at a really good LW. I don’t think Alvarez is amazing playing wider.

How about Alvarez and Kvara? :pires2:

Tbf, doesn’t have to be Kvara.

If Alvarez were to replace Trossard and/or Jesus, and then we get a proper winger to replace Martinelli, that could also work for me.

Midfield spend of £160m* (Eze included)

Attack is £120m with just madueke and Gyok.

Total £280m and not a standout signing.
