Arsenal transfers 25/26

Holy respectball.

Nahh add some competent attackers upfront and we’re cooking.

The attacking lineup we have now just isn’t pulling their weight.

the race to leave Newcastle is on :joy:. That Isak saga was the first domino. Now everyone knows they’ll eventually cave in

Isn’t this the best implementation of PSR?
If there is no corruption involved, no sugar daddy can come in and needlessly inflate the market

Newcastle in 2010s would have spent billion dollars and had become another Manchester City & Chelsea

Who you got if these are our choices this summer to reinforce in midfield?

  • Sandro Tonali (75m)
  • Matheus Fernandes (65m)
  • Ayyoub Bouaddi (50m)

Tough choice between 2. Few million either way would make a difference but I’ll take the known quantity.

Tonal is fucking fantastic. Means we could actually rest Rice next year.

Tonali is a no brainer for me. Just gotta hope Newcastle don’t have more secret gambling stuff on him.

We would be unbearable with guimaraes

Like Tonali but as I’ve mentioned before I’m not sure it’s particularly wise to have Rice(27), Zubimendi(27), Odegaard(27), Merino(30) and Eze(28), and then go and spend 70-80m for Tonali(26) and I presume would also ask for a beefy contact as well.

Gotta be Fernandes for me given those choices.

The West Ham guy? Is this a serious suggestion?

As in the price(doubt he’d be that cheap) or the player itself?

65’m for a player from West Ham who have been awful all season is a wild concept. This isn’t a Declan Rice situation

He’s been their standout player this season and a big reason for their recent upturn in form.
The lad will turn 22 this summer and barring any surprises he’d be in the World Cup squad for Portugal.

I think West Ham will ask over 70m for him if they stay up.

Good luck to whoever pays it

Hopefully it’s us.

I’m honestly torn. I hear this argument from a squad building perspective. It would be nice to have somebody a bit younger. Fernandes seems like a lot more of a gamble though, based on the type of team in which he’s been playing (ie, rarely having much of the ball) and also being kind of small.

I like Bouaddi a lot from what I’ve seen but I’m just not confident that he’ll be good enough at 19 for Arteta to really use him heavily in rotation with Rice and Zubi. At the end of the day, we need somebody Arteta will actually use.

What do you think of Wharton and Anderson who are a bit more established in the PL?

We should ask @Flexo

Our club is in ā€œwinning timeā€. We have another 2-3 year golden period where we just need to absolutely make the most of all the pieces we have assembled. It happens very rarely so we have to capitalise ruthlessly.

We should always spend sensibly of course, but players like Tonali are the calibre we should be buying to cement our elite status and ensure we continue to be the top team.

I think we have enough young talent in the defence / midfield (Nwaneri and Skelly will likely be options in midfield long term) for us to go after a 27 or 28 year old in the 70-80m bracket.

Saying that, I’d still be really happy with Wharton or Anderson who have age on their side, but wouldn’t quite have the instant wow factor.

I think the summer will bring a fairly marquee midfield signing and a marquee attacking signing. There will also certainly be at least one big outgoing, if not two.
