I’ll be honest, I’d call this Madueke thing agent driven seeing how Romano is pushing it yet HandOfOzil played it down.
However, Ornstein did spend some time on it during The Athletic Podcast and made it sound like Madueke is indeed very appealing to us.
We’ve waited so long for any top quality attacking signings that when we hear rumours about Watkins and Madueke, who are no where near an upgrade on anything we already have, makes you wonder how serious we are about strengthening to challenge for the title.

Think Eze would start majority of the games over him if he came.
Martinelli’s effectiveness suffers greatly once he doesn’t play against a high line, and very few teams play with a high line against us nowadays.

Off the top of my head I’d say Raphinha, Barcola, Kvara, Leao, Vini, Rodrygo, Diaz, Gakpo, Leao, Gordon, Williams, Lookman and Cunha would all start over him.
Then there’s that subsection of attacking midfielders that can play off the left like Musiala, Wirtz, Doue and Eze that would start over him.
