If we trade Partey for FdJ (not in sense that partey would go to Barca) I think that would be good business

Tweeting about any of the guys who are definitely coming is a case of diminishing returns

Gotta try something different for more attention

There’s a host of ā€œITKsā€ parroting this. Dobbos just picking up on that.

Very much doubt.

Damn…if they can acquire FDJ. That would be an unbelievable get

Trust in Dobby

Would love it but it makes no sense as a transfer.

Didn’t the links to ManU die because he wanted the money Barcelona promised him when he took a wage deferral? Can’t imagine we’d be able to cover that.

i still think we need a striker… spent an insane amount on midfield… i wish we could have spent it on a worldclass striker… who can give us more than 25 goals per season in PL

Because lack of goals was an issue last season?

I agree, and It’s a glaring weakness in our attack.
We have arguably the best midfield and forward players in the PL, with Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli, Rice and Havertz yet only Jesus and Nketiah as our striking options.

We need to get a top level striker that can score efficiently to get the best out of all these players.
It won’t happen in this window but I’m sure Arteta will be looking to upgrade this position.

Yes at crucial points… we missed out because of that killer instinct.

We normally relied on Nketiah and Nelson…who did well considering their talent but not considering the challenge for title.

Exactly. Especially to score when you have few or limited opportunities.

We didn’t miss out on the league because of our attack. Look at the stats. Even Thierry Henry, Bergkamp, Pires and Ljungberg at their prime couldn’t hold a candle to the barrage of goals we scored last season.

We lost cause our defence was so shit. We conceded just as many as Man Utd, who everybody on here is so convinced we’re miles better than them, despite only finishing 9 points better off.

Jesus was out for 4 months. I’m convinced he gets 20 minimum if he’s fit the whole season.

I could only justify getting a striker if Balogun or Eddie goes.

We missed a whole host of chances in games where we wernt at our best and dropped points throughout the season IMO

If we had a striker who could finish our chances it would have meant we picked up more points in games where we didnt play so well and who knows where we could have been.
I agree, our problem isnt in the overall attack, but a striker who finishes chances takes us to the next level

The only worry I personally have with our attack is what happens if Saka and Martinelli and both are unavailable for whatever reason. If we were to sign a forward, it’d be my preference to be someone who can play wide first and foremost and be able to run at people similar to Martinelli and Saka.

But then if we signed a mainstay central striker, Jesus could potentially move wide.

We could, my argument with that is that we can’t nust sign any striker, if we sign one it has to be a genuine upgrade on what we have or we might as well not bother.

Think Trossard and Eddie have proven to do a good job in his absence so I don’t feel is that burning of a matter.

I guess in a scenario where both Martinelli and Saka are out we can go with:
Jesus-Trossard-Nelson

Yep, definitely

No point in getting one for the sake of it
A top striker or nothing at all

and you are gonna spend 100M on a top striker anyways.

We cant let another season go like this when Jesus or another player is injured and we are missing sitters after sitters because we dont have a world class striker. We also need to understand that we will be in UCL as well this year, so the burden on Jesus will be even more. Anything we got from MF or even the likes of Saka was a bonus, its not necessary we will be getting the same number of goals from MF this year.

So a strong striker is must imho.
