IMO these talents listed aren’t that special though, only Haaland seems to be a generational talent the rest aren’t even close.
FWIW I agree with your point on Brighton’s business though and I would count Cucurella as a pretty decent find by Brighton, nobody was really talking about him and they’ve put him on the map.
This may well be more reflective of my current knowledge of wider European football than anything, but I’d say Cucurella was a relatively obscure player, I’d never heard of the cunt when Brighton signed him.
I really like the picture of random Arsenal shirts in that tweet. Adds a lot of value and hugely relevant. Great tweet and I am happier as a human being because of the image. Thank you Sash.
Dunno the interest in Raphinha, the obvious shortages at CM and winger and Mikel repeatedly talking about ‘we need more’ must mean we’re on to something…right?
Surely Arsenal wouldn’t leave a squad 1/2 signings short of really being able to compete?
Arsenal have done this many times before, just praying under Arteta and Edu it’s different.
I think if we make no more signings we’re severely short on the wings and CM quality. Injuries will happen at some point especially when the EL campaigns starts.
Our current squad has us fighting tooth and nail for 4th at the death I reckon.
This paints a better picture. We’re gambling on Lokonga and Marquinhos to be adequate cover. We submit to Elneny being Partey’s cover, which as much as I like Elneny the system will then have to altered.
It’s well and dandy when everyone’s fit and we’re balling like we currently are, but good luck playing a game every 3-4 days starting from tomorrow. With some of our crocks it won’t be long before some of the players we know aren’t up to the required level are getting a run of games like we saw in the latter half last season.
One too many gambles.
Gambling on Nketiah to be adequate cover to Jesus.
Gambling on Martinelli to get to the next level. Gambling on Saliba to have a good first season in the PL(be interesting to see how he fairs after some bad moments).
Gambling on Emile, Tierney and Partey to stay fit.
Gambling Saka to not break down.
Gambling on Lokonga, Marquinhos and Elneny to be adequate cover.
It’s worth remembering that once they gelled our first team last season wasn’t bad either. Fully fit Arsenal gave City(who were on top form at the time btw) a run for their money. In fact, that month is the perfect example of how shit can go bang in an instant. Partey went to AFCON, Tomiyasu got injured, Xhaka and Gabriel got a red and our team turned to shit.
We came back from a break. Most players got back fit again, and went on a run again. Then we lost Partey and Tierney on top of Tomiyasu who was already out and then we turned into shit again, we managed to recover a bit but by the time we went to Newcastle we had to field two unfit CBs and got practically mauled at St James’ Park.
