Arsenal transfers 23/24

Or he doesn’t want AMN anywhere near the first team

Its hard for me to believe that Arteta doesn’t think AMN could do a passable job as backup RB. Or at least that he sees this as a big enough problem that its motivating him to find another backup RB in this transfer window.

Isn’t he injured at the minute?

Yeah, I though AMN performances at RB had generally been well received

By who, our opposition’s fans?

Wasn’t there a period where he was getting alot of praise for his offensive performances? I genuinely can’t remember but I thought the mood on AMN at RB was broadly positive from Arsenal fans

Anyway Arteta said this a few weeks back in reference to AMN and Saka. AMN in midfield in place of Xhaka could be interesting

Tbh that sounded more like a cry for help, any manger worth his salt knows you need full backs in the modern game.

I honestly think our atrocious form coincides with our lack of proper full back options for the previous year and half.

Credit to Saka though he’s been excellent in his short spell at LB.

Buf AMN as a CM eh…

He has been doing great, Castiel is just running an agenda.

But I do agree that I can’t really see him being anything more than a depth option as a CM.

Maybe Arteta knows something we don’t.

I don’t see it either.

But if I had to list all the team’s problems then “AMN as backup RB” would be pretty far down the list, so spending resources and energy to solve that problem is a little perplexing.

Or maybe its just a case of Soares being a decent value play as he is out of contract this summer, only costs a few million, and won’t be on big wages. So maybe you could bring him in as cover for Bellerin and then actually sell AMN to some midtable side for 20M in the summer and help fund other purchases.

Yeah, Soares does look like a good value. Selling AMN to raise funds is a good idea. I just can’t imagine we’re thinking that forward though, or playing the transfer game that much, but maybe that’s just years of our backwards work on the transfer market conditioning me. Maybe I just need to get used to the new realities of…

If we do this I don’t think I’ll ever stop loving Mi Artetico

@Electrifying would be devastated

I didn’t think about that but yeh, even more reason we should do it.

I’d be ok with it if he’s not going to accept being a RB.

At least £20 mil tho

We all see there are more gaping holes in the squad that need to be fixed. But this is some low hanging fruit stuff.

The other stuff (finding a starting centre midfielder and left winger for example) you don’t do that easily in the winter window. Maitland-Niles is very average and offers nothing going forward etc.

Mari and Soares will help to plug the gaps in our defence until the summer. Neither are permanent signings so it preserves our transfer budget for the summer. If neither work out, both can leave at the end of the season. Bellerin is first choice at RB, but Soares isn’t a bad back up for him and is a better option than AMN as he is a natural RB. Mari could be an upgrade on our options at CB and can’t be any worse than Mustafi!

All that would make sense if we as a club had a history of utilising loan players properly.
Bar Benayoun i cant think of a good loan deal
