Yep, in 04/05 I felt we came out of the blocks looking even better than we had in the previous season.
Chelsea were more than worthy champions, I think there’s a good chance they would have won the league regardless, but I do look back to that loss at OT and wonder what would have happened if we had avoided defeat and not been disgustingly cheated out of our unbeaten run before hitting 50. Because we looked so so good at the beginning of that season.
I also sometimes wonder what would have happened with Reyes had the ref not let Man U relentlessly commit war crimes against him. At the start of 04/05 he was unreal and looked well on his way to being one of the best attackers in the league. I’m sure he would have still been homesick and wanted to go to Madrid, but I wonder if it would have been for a hefty fee after a world class season that saw us retain the league.
Yeah it’s unrealistic, the onslaught of games over Christmas will see some stupid goals conceded and I think we’ll be on around 10 against by the end of Jan.
Have to go on another mad run to end the season if we want to even get close to the record. Not bothered about it tbh, don’t think anyone will ever beat it given the way the sport has moved on.
Was watching a couple of highlights about our defence and it’s like from the attacker point of view… it is you that’s being attacked. You’re being hunted!
I couldn’t image how it feels like facing Gabriel, Saliba, Timber, Benny, Cala, MLS. Not only that, Hincapié and especially Mosquera, they are fucking frightening!
Not undermining our defense but i think other teams also have been quite defensive when it comes to playing arsenal, they dont really attack arsenal in fear of conceding goals themselves which makes our defenders job even more easy
For example two of the top teams of last seasons, Liverpool and City, they weren’t aggressive like usual.
