If only it were that simple.

Get a bit fed up seeing his videos on tiktok, I mean heā€™s so up himself itā€™s beyond annoying, but I do like that heā€™s not afraid to go against the grain and call out some of the bullshit we live with these days. I wish more people would and ideally people with more credibility.

The funniest bit though, is when people get interviewed about their opinion on him and they just say ā€˜I hate himā€™ but then canā€™t answer the simple next question of ā€˜why?ā€™ :joy:

Too many sheep listening to sound bites and unable to back up an opinion these days.

Anything specific here?

I did have a longer reply typed out but deleted it as I donā€™t want to get into a 20 post discussion, so short answer to avoid being one of the sheep I described - some of his comments about the overuse of ā€˜toxic masculinityā€™, guys being in a no win scenario and the growing excuse culture we live in.

Dude speaks some bullshit, dude speaks some truth. Bullshit makes the news, especially when youā€™re forcing girls to be pornstars.

Like I said, be nice if others with more credibility would stand up against some of this bs. Piers does it on the 1000 genders but heā€™s also a clown.

What ā€˜no win scenarioā€™ am I in?

Iā€™m open to the idea that there are tons of problems impacting young men right now. But idk that this guy is someone anyone should take advice from.

And therein lies the issue, everything he says is auto dismissed because of the general perception of him :slightly_smiling_face:

Not a general perception. He has some really troubling views on women that I think donā€™t make him a good role model.

Is he right that young men face challenges in society? Absolutely. Isolation, feelings of rejection, confusion about where they fit in society, all that stuff is true. Heā€™s right that those are problems. But I donā€™t think heā€™s the right guy to dish out advice on how to help solve those problems. So yeah, good issue spotting but maybe leave the solutions to people who arenā€™t misogynist sex criminals.

Which is kind of what I said in my original post

Iā€™d rather someone with more credibility call out these things because there are a lot of genuine topics he brings up that would get a lot more traction if they came from someone more well respected.

Wasnā€™t Peterson considered someone credible at one point considering his qualifications?

Jordan Peterson is credible as long as he doesnā€™t attempt to answer every question thrown at him.

Made massive damage to himself trying to answer controversial questions plus his mental health took a dive.

Jordan Peterson had or has credibility in the field of psychology, in which heā€™s an expert, and I guess self help, thatā€™s it. Though Iā€™d say his standing in the self help community has been somewhat diminished when he doles out advice that he evidently is incapable of following himself. Politically heā€™s a bit of a joke and really should not be taken seriously at all. Anyone can agree with him politically, of course, but he isnā€™t any sort of expert.

This is literally just standard, garden variety right wing perspectives on gender politics?? Lol. You can get this basically anywhere on the right wing, you really donā€™t have to look to the patently misogynistic Andrew Tate for it. At best, heā€™s a digital, 21st century pimp, and I could genuinely be less charitable than that and be fully justified lol. Definitely not someone we need to be deferring to in the matter of gender politics.

Appreciate you replying to my question, it doesnā€™t have to become some drawn out, 20 replies back and forth between us :+1:

Came across a few of Jordan Petersonā€™s videos a while back and felt like the guy has mastered the art of talking a lot and saying very little.

I thought his book was pretty good. Sure, itā€™s just his version of the 12 Step programme, but itā€™s still an insightful read.

Heā€™d be perfect on OA

So heā€™s basically just a scammer, not really clued up on how he made his money.

He should have done an NFT. Thatā€™s a great way to scam people and get away with it

He did do an NFT scam, didnā€™t he?

Tate and Peterson are terrible role models, even if both are capable of going against the grain and saying some interesting things, the bulk of what they come out with is bullshit. Tate has no obvious morals and Peterson is a parody of himself at this point.

Making money off simps, their own fault. Tate is still a bellend though.
