I do believe this. I think Arteta probably told Berta what he needed at a minimum and what he needed to complete the squad and Berta did the latter lol

I genuinely can’t believe how complete our squad feels now.

Because we filled the two gaping holes we’d all been talking about - LW & ST.

The others were just upgrades or replacements. Quality level definitely risen across the board.

Interesting. I seem to remember Berta/Arsenal wanting to bring in a guy from Juventus earlier this year but I think that lead went cold.

Didn’t know where to put this, so it goes here. Now obviously it is in hindsight but how we’re feeling about the transfer window? Because we’re not getting much out of what we bought.

I think without this Summer’s window, we wouldn’t even we wouldn’t be top so I think the work that Berta did is still important and ultimately we haven’t signed anybody that we can’t resell outside of Gyokeres.

Said at the time it wasn’t that great, didn’t get the fuss.

Zubimendi (bar today!) has been a revelation, Mosquerra looks like the bargain of the decade and we’ve needed Eze and Gyokeres to be available this season.

Were top. Good window, not amazing.

Zubimendi - good but overrated, needed cos of Partey situation.

Gyokeres - made sense given we needed a striker and he had the best numbers

Madueke - done fine. Was unnecessary though since we had Nwaneri.

Eze - waste of space

Mosquera - good signing.

Hincapie - decent to good so far.

Mosquito has been the most impressive for me, given his age and fee.

Zubimendi has been good offensively, but not the 6 I thought he’d be.

Gyok’s foundational football skills is well below par.

Mads has no end product.

Hincapie…average imho.

It’s not looking good brev, but as said before typically only 40% of new signings ā€˜work out’.

Let’s see what happens come May…

The window was great. We have a top top squad.

How they are being used is the problem. All that talent and relying on set pieces is embarrassing.

On paper I think it’s still good just the players seemed to have regressed and haven’t pushed us on much like expected.

Can’t help but think we’re a bit Netflixy - all quantity over quality.

We’re win now, and with players like Eze and Vik offering very little contribution at their age, they offer nothing for now or for the future.

Madueke maybe another season he brings a bit of end product.

Absolutely fine with Zoob and Mozza.

Berta isn’t as good as he, or everyone else, thinks he is.

Disagree. In just one year he’s tied down Saliba, Gabriel (I think), Timber, Saka and apparently Rice is in the sorks. He’s got numerous deals over the line and I trust him to get good deals on outgoing players. We also appear not to have been bent over on the Nwaneri and Zinchenko loan deals.

I agree that we’ve loaded the squad last summer and are crying out for game changing players, but would anybody rather want 250m of Osak and Wirtz based on what we’ve seen?
