Andrea Berta

Looking at the summer window I’d say Eze has pretty much been a dud so far.

Madueke I like but still question the wisdom of spending significantly more than Chelsea did on him

Gyokeres is who he is. He is an unbelievably average striker.

We have a much better bench to call upon because of the summer business and I’ll always be thankful for that but question the wisdom of the summer gone if we basically could realistically need to sign 3 new attackers this summer again

I’d probably be happy if we made only one signing in the summer with that being an absolutely elite left-sided attacker.

Two signings if White goes as I suspect he might.

It’s likely we’ll lose Jesus and one of Trossard / Martinelli so I can definitely see us needing an extra body or two. Question marks about Havertz return to fitness too.

I’d be happy with one top class forward.

Who though? They are all shit.

Olise pls

The summer window was all about enabling us to win now. Had we followed the same approach, we may have came up short again. The great thing now about this summer is we can literally seek to upgrade the weakest players we have in the squad. The players we sell, will generate us some transfer funds, so for instance, if we upgrade Norgaard as I expect we will, we’ll recoup the money we spent on him and he would have done the job we bought him for this season.

I still think the most likely positions we’ll target in the summer are a midfielder, a striker, and possibly a left-winger. We also have to complete the Hincapie deal. I don’t think we’ll end up seeking to replace Eze or Madueke, but those are two positions that may be on the cards for the following season.

But some of our signings made the summer gone are the weakest players…

Your boy Fabrizio said we’re looking at a young right back, a midfielder and maybe a winger.

And I think that’s potentially fine, IF there is a better player available in that position. Norgaard is the obvious one IMO. He’s given us extra cover in midfield this season, but come the summer I have no issue with selling him, if we replace with someone like Tonali or Anderson. I can’t see any Arsenal fan complaining about that.

Fabrizio’s never been my guy my man! I can see us signing a new right back. Personally, I’d still send MLS out on loan next season and go out an buy a backup CB for Gabriel.

That’s a valid squad building strategy but personally it tells me Berta did an average job so far and got too much praise.

I get that but equally I would argue, he has given us a squad to win this season…had we continued with the same strategy, we may have bought better quality, but not the numbers we needed and still ended up short, especially with the injuries we’ve had.

His best position probably for us is on the left wing especially with how Hincapie is performing going forward. Those two would compliment each other well i reckon. Gyokeres is shit, Havertz and Merino are at their best as strikers/super subs whilst being midfielders. Our creative/attacking signings have been so so poor.
