American Presidential Election 2024

W for Trump

Interesting to see which side of the fence his voters fall on, if they don’t just sit it out entirely because he seemed an unserious option.

You’re making the bold assumption there were any real RFK Jr. voters to begin with.

Hey, you have Libertarian voters. Those guys were booing Gary Johnson at a debate for advocating for driver’s licenses.

All type of voters seem to exist over there

That has got to be one of my favorite clips of all time. His face at the end always cracks me up.

And you’re right btw, we do have Libertarian voters but Republicans don’t really adhere to the idea that big government is bad. They want the government to be everywhere. In your school, in your home, in your doctor’s office, in your bed, in your vagina if you have one. It’s pretty un-Libertarian. The only thing RFK Jr. really had going for him was the anti-vax vote but Trump has already promised to cut Federal funding to schools with vaccine mandates (which I assume means all vaccine mandates, not just COVID vaccines, so I’m really looking forward to mumps making a comeback).

That’s the clip! Always gets me. Have to see it to believe it.

Should watch the whole thing. It’s quite something.

HoF level stuff from Gary.

On a more serious note, it’s not going to convince anyone here (and most of you can’t vote so it doesn’t matter) but there was a Georgia elected official who gave a great speech about Gaza. It’s really frustrating the DNC didn’t allow her to speak but it’s worth a listen if you have the time.

“house dems say voters more focused on vision and character than policy”

All vibes then @Joshua innit

I understand the strategy from Harris and the Party, it is the only thing they can do given the situation but it is very odd not to have any kind of actual policy position 70 days out from the election.

You could only really get away with this by having a highly servile corporate media establishment

Whatever it takes at this point I guess. Trump won on vibes, so did Carter, Obama in 08 did too maybe?

And it’s not like Harris has any real incentive to get into granular detail about policy. The media aren’t going to cover it and voters don’t seem to care.

U.S. democracy is basically a WWE match in suits sponsored by the MIC, healthcare industry, Wall Street, oil and gas business ad all other industries engaging in legal corruption called lobbying.

Voters don’t care about policy but who they like more based on appearance and personality and most of all. Party allegiance.

I am sorry to say, I really don’t like Trump and his policies, but there is something just so utterly unlikebale and fake about anyone the Democrats decide to push forward as the nominee. Aside of Obama and Sanders.

That CNN segment was also mega cringe to watch.

What do you find unlikable about Harris? She had like zero profile up until about six weeks ago despite being the VP so I’m curious what’s so awful about her that you find her unlikable so quickly.

Is this your way of saying it has a predetermined outcome?

The day I found out wrestling is not real (probably when I was 13-14), a little part of my childhood died. Also stopped watching it around that time.

It feels odd to me that we put so much stock in the election of an American president in this day and age, when America does not have the influence on global events that it once had.
We have one party in hoc to a pathological narcissist, and one party in hoc to pronoun solipsists and student protests who are as lacking in self awareness as they are understanding about the world outside of their cosseted bubble.
It seemed not too long ago that we had serious candidates on both sides.

Nope

It’s me saying it’s stupid as fuck democracy in the United States

It is properly weird to look at from the outside. I’ll give you that.

It still fucks us up when their economy starts slowing down.
The dirt of job opportunities worldwide is down to pre-recession in US.
