Alexandre Lacazette (signed!)

Im not huge on Lacazette either but I hope we get him as realistically we know Wenger isn’t going to spend bigger money on getting a bigger fish than him… Lacazette improves the squad at least.

#Lyon boss admits Arsenal target Alexandre Lacazette could leave

Lyon remain open to the possibility of selling Alexandre Lacazette this summer, according to the French club’s manager Bruno Genesio.

Lacazette, who only recently signed a new four-year deal at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, has attracted interest from a number of clubs across Europe after scoring 92 goals in 230 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit.

Arsenal saw a bid in the region of £30m rejected last week but are expected to return with an improved offer for the 25-year-old.

And the Gunners appear to have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the France international after Genesio admitted the striker may leave this summer.

“He can leave if Lyon want him to,” said the 49-year-old.

"There are some offers that you cannot refuse. My desire as manager is that the best players stay and Lacazette is very important for the team.

“I have been assured by my president that we will keep the player. You never know what could happen right up until August 31.”

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has so far insisted the striker is not for sale at any price.

However, the French club are thought to value Lacazette at £40m and could be open to an offer from Arsenal if they are willing to meet this valuation.

Latest report by Sky Sports. Surely something will happen this week.

Don’t fall for it mate. You know better than that. It’s only the first week of August.

If they value him at 40 million they’ll probably settle at somewhere between 35 and 40.

We could easily offer 35 million + 10 million if we win the CL.

So basically 35 million but with the slightest bit of sheen that makes it feel like you’re getting a better deal and the papers can report that its “35 million plus addons” which makes us sound like super badasses.

Lyon doesn’t seem like the team who will settle for anything tbh.

If Lyon values Lacazette at around 40m.

Do you think Wenger will bid 35-40m or he wants to go cheap and bid significant lower than seller’s expectation??

You have described Wenger’s transfer strategy in that sentence.

Deadline day stuff here. Lyon ‘saying’ they are staunch and won’t/don’t want to sell while very much letting everyone know of this. Every. Week.

Still not sure about Alexandre. I feel like my desperation overrides logic here because we’ve fluffed every other option up and the need for someone, anyone, will likely ‘do’.

Personal terms agreed.

Personal terms was never the stumbling block. I just hope there’s some degree of player pressure in getting it done their end.

Yeah, personal terms agreed, but it’s hard to conclude a deal with Aulas not with Lacazette and his agent.

Very few player tantrums this season, ain’t there?

Last year Sterling was a shitshow and Berahino i guess.

If we signed him, i don’t think it would be before Liverpool’s game. Just a feeling.

Nah we will be haggling about the price until deadline day, so if we sign him it will likely be on deadline day.

Wenger: We can offer and I’ll have you know this is a good deal £29,500,000 paid over 5 years

Aulas: …

Wenger: £29,500,01?

Aulas: …

Wenger: OK you drive a hard bargain I like your style, let’s call it £30,000,000 straight cash money!

Wenger: Hello? Hello? Anyone there?

I still find this signing completely underwhelming.
