If we get back what we signed him for we also lost, given what we could have used the money for in the meantime/less interest etc.
But at one point I wasn’t sure we’d get anything so wouldn’t be too bad…

It is what it is. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. You can’t really fairly compare these deals to an expensive transfer. We sell him for close to what we paid and move on. 5 or 6m over a few years is nothing to us in reality.

Lokonga should look at what happened to Gravenberch before signing for Bayern. That said, Kompany rates him, so sitting on Bayern’ bench trumps sitting on Arsenals.
Doubt he’d be making very many match-day squads if he stays here. Probably be between the Bayern bench or that row of seats behind the Arsenal bench.

£2.5m loan fee with an option to buy. Arsenal want it to be an obligation, but we all know it will be an option.
£2.5m isn’t exactly a “windfall” for a club of Arsenal’s size. It would be for me though.

Windfall seems an odd way to deacribe a transfer/loan fee. If you loan someone a player, that’s not an unexpected sum of money you’re receiving, quite the opposite.
