I was thinking about it, do these options to buy someone ever get triggered?
Feels like they rarely are.
Either the player flops and the club doesn’t want the player, or the player does well, the club wants would to retain player but they try to negotiate an even lower fee with a better payment structure.
These deals tend to favour the buying club. As a big club we never really seem to benefit from them. We almost had one with Odegaard and that worked out well for us. We tried to negotiate an option from what I can remember, Madrid refused but we got our man anyway.
Disappointing that he would rather make more money rotting on Arsenals reserves than play. Never a good thing to see from a young player.
I hope we rid of him soon to make room for others.
