I’ll always believe that Ramsey himself had no intentions of extending his contract. That’s why it was withdraw close to January (if memory serves me right). By all accounts that contract had been on the table for a while and Ramsey hadn’t chosen to sign it.

Nah it was much earlier.
I disagree, given all the signs I really do feel like Emery didn’t rate him that much.
But we’ve had this argument before, and ultimately no one can know for sure. But the way it went down my feeling is pretty strongly that it was a club decision (likely strongly influenced by Emery’s choice).

I don’t think he ever had any intention of signing it, not that I’m criticising him for that. When you know it will boil down to either staying at Arsenal on 200k ish and scrapping around fourth to sixth place for the peak of your career, or going to play for a proper club like Juventus, winning trophies and earning approximately double the amount of money, the choice is obvious.
I’m a lifelong Arsenal fan and even I’m probably taking the Juventus offer lol, as if Ramsey was ever doing anything different. Fair play to him as well, I hope to see him succeed.

He was greedy and he, and his agent obviously knew what they were doing by running down his contract so we lost out on a potential 40m transfer fee which we could have used to pay for an adequate replacement.
I don’t blame him and, like you say, most of us would do the same but he’s gone and I couldn’t care less about him.

Agreed with you there. But we hire losers and then don’t replace them, so fuck this club.

I am so glad we didn’t give another huge contract to a questionable player whose position was a question mark even after a decade at the club.

It would have likely been more considering Juve were willing to and are paying him 400k so he wouldnt have signed for less (even if that is with bonuses) that is a hell of a lot of money for a player that a lot of times didnt show up for us!

Not worth what we were paying him, overpaid nobody.
Match winners are worth their weight in gold. Ramsey wasn’t always the easiest on the eye with his dumb flicks and that, but he’d pop up when we needed.
