25/26 Title race

City dropping points against Chelsea and us winning against Bournemouth will pretty much settle it.

You hopefully are right but I would rather say they win them all then be pleased when they drop points rather than expecting them to drop points and be disappointed when they don’t. :joy:

This iteration of City has not shown itself capable of winning 6 or 7 games in a row.

They need to be utterly perfect now. They have to win their game in hand, they have to beat us at the Etihad and we would still be 3 points ahead.

Even a draw at the Etihad kills their challenge off. We’d still have a 6 pt cushion provided we beat Bournemouth and City beat Chelsea next week.

We are grinding victories out right now, but that’s all we need to do.

The game at the Etihad is meaningful, and we need to go there with the right balance of ball players and physicality. We are the best off the ball team in Europe. The players need to remember that and we will be fine.

That tool is very cool. If we win 4, draw 2 and lose at City, they still need to win 8 from 8 to be champions.

We just need to take it one game at a time, focus on beating Bournemouth and go from there.

We play before them in the two weeks either side of the game at the Etihad which is a nice little advantage to put some pressure on them.

Yeah. I also looked at some scenarios where we dropped a few points while City won all except the game against us, and it’s still looking good enough for us.

We just need to keep it simple, look at it one game at a time and we’ll be okay.

I predict we will drop points in 3 of our remaining 7 games. Obviously don’t want that to happen but we look shattered and injuries aren’t helping either.

Next 3 are pivotal, 2 home games but against stiff oppo and a trip to city.

Not expecting any favour from Chelsea so we need to beat at least 1 of Bournemouth and Newcastle. Don’t want to need a result away at palace on the last day to seal it.

That would be too easy and we don’t do easy :slightly_smiling_face:

I think we’ll struggle against Bournemouth and Chelsea aren’t taking points from anyone at the moment. I just have a feeling we’ll go into that game at the Etihad desperate to not lose. We’ve not done so well at the Etihad so it will be a proper test of the title credentials of this team and manager.

I’m sorry, Bournemouth at home can’t be where we start to wobble. Has to be a routine three points, with no excuses. Pressure will be huge on City. It seemed like a game of ā€˜Who blinks first?’ After our dropped points against Wolves. We haven’t even slightly wavered. Win our next two and we’ve won the title has to be the mentality.

Arsenal 1-1 Bournemouth

Even then City would need to win every game to win the league or only lose 1 game to win on GD

Chelsea had won 2 of 9 before they last played City at the Etihad. I don’t think recent form counts for a lot in these games tbh.

I really hope you are right. If we don’t have to go to the Etihad having to at least get a point, that’ll be just great. I can do without that pressure, and I guess so can this team. But let’s first get the job done against Bournemouth.

Genuinely disheartening how many asterisks we’ve accumulated in case we win the PL.
Is it even worth it winning under these circumstances? We should honestly be ashamed if we do.

Scared. City are clicking into gear. I need Chelsea to get something off them and us to beat Bournemouth to relax.

I know the feeling but they have been inconsistent this season. But yes, we have to beat Bournemouth and I think that is not a given. We’ll just have to grind out result after result.

Hopefully, the 2 - 3 weeks of rest some of our key players have will help.

You’re scared because you lose your reason at the smallest provocation to be fair

Anyway,

Arsenal 1-1 Bournemouth

Chelsea 1-5 Man City

Are they?

I didn’t watch the second half but they could easily have been two down by the time Virgil decided to be a muppet.
