25/26 Title race šŸ†

I dont want to jinx it but I am quietly confident now Liverpool have finally lost their lucky pills. We have the best defence and defence wins you titles.

City a bigger threat than Liverpool?

Title race chat in October…

I think all of Arsenal, Liverpool and City are still in it. Barely any points between them.

If we can get a double-digit point gap ahead of both of them, I’ll fully believe.

A looooong way to get yet. Nice to be top but I don’t feel we’ve yet hit our beat either.

When would you like it to start? It’s quite clear before the season even started the title race was the 3 of us

can start at any time. I’m not against this.

Calum makes this thread and 20mins later Odegaard gets a MCL. Never seen a bigger jinx. Delete this.

Ƙdegaard is made of paper. A strong gust of wind gets him

2/3 more international break injuries followed by a horrible 1-1 draw with fulham all feel inevitable now.

I don’t think you can already say it.

The thing is, all 3 contenders are going through some changes and we will only see their proper state in a few months.

I expect us to improve going forward, but all these constant injuries are the biggest worry. Especially Ode now. I think we’ll need both Eze and him fit to make that breakthrough this season. We have the biggest squad but it’s frustrating we aren’t able to fully utilise it while we always have some key players out.

Many new important signings like Eze, Gyokeres, Zubi are still fitting in and it’s hard to tell the potential of this team.

Not sure what to say about City atm. Definitely not near that level 2-3 years ago, but still very dangerous. They could become very dangerous if they get into a good run of results and get that confidence back, but I still favour us here.

We have a bigger squad but they still have enough tools to win the title if things click the right way for them.

Liverpool are going through a rough phase atm, but it would be naive to rule them out already.

To be fair, they had quite a few changes in their squad too, and it’s quite normal they are facing some issues atm. No one can be surprised if they look much better in a few weeks, and I do expect them to get better, but it is important they stopped collecting the points in those games where they play like shit.

You can’t say much at this stage, but it is important to avoid dropping points while you’re finding your way at the start of the season. We will only see the real state of all 3 teams in a couple of months. But even from then, things can drastically change and turn around even deeper into the season (just look at how we looked in the first half vs the second half of both 2022/23 and 2023/24).

I can say I was frustrated when our fans already started to write us off going into that Newcastle game, if we lost it, and now others are already giving us the title…

Way too early.

The head to heads will be important. We’ve got the edge but a lot can change in football - quickly.

Yes, it will be a three horse race.

Yes, all 3 title contenders are going through changes. This is what any sane person who knows football would say…….. however, the pundits and their agenda since the start of the season has been:

City are rebuilding.

Liverpool have signed so many players and they need time to gel.

Arsenal signed the striker they needed and Eze so no excuse now to not win it. And their approach against Liverpool shows they are still a step behind.

We signed same amount of players if not more than Liverpool but are expected to blend and gel in immediately.

On a side note, fulham away is a tough game especially after the international break. Hope we can get the 3 points.

I think it’s fair to give a first shout to City, Arsenal and Liverpool as the main contenders based on the last few years.

The margins are too small to disqualify one or the other already.
There will likely be lots of twists and turns, we’re only just 7 games in it’s only 3 points separating the 3 teams right now.

Table could look a lot different by February.

I presume @SuperArsenal1886 is being ironic here. My guy has no problem calling the champions n August.

Technically Odegaard already had the MCL injury prior to this thread being made lol

Its still really early and any of the three could easily win the title but right now I’d probably give us the best shot. I think we have the deepest side with the strongest spine.

City also look very dangerous to me but a lot depends on Rodri regaining form and staying healthy (after he recovers from this latest setback at least). Even with him they haven’t been able to consistently control and boss games but without him they’re just really mediocre in midfield.

Liverpool I would currently give the worst odds. What would worry me as a Liverpool fan isn’t just that Slot hasn’t found the right formula yet, its how few players he really trusts. They remind me a lot of some past Arteta Arsenal sides where the manager truly trusts maybe only 12-13 field players. You just burn out and over rely on your core guys, meanwhile the peripheral players don’t play often enough to maintain rhythm so when they eventually get thrown into a match due to injury or fixture congestion they’re not in good form. Last year was the perfect storm for Liverpool of not only staying almost totally healthy but also having nobody there to challenge them for the league in the spring when they ran out of gas. I don’t think either will happen again.

It’s obviously way too early for any sort of title talk.

After the last two results & performances (Newcastle and West Ham), it’s easy to see why we might be considered favourites, especially as Liverpool lost their last 2. But prior to the Newcastle game, the outlook was a bit different. So things can change very quickly and we have to keep that in mind.

Overall, we have the most well rounded squad, with a core group of players that have been together for a while now. With Mikel seemingly being more open to playing without the ā€œhandbrakeā€, and some of the variety we saw in attack in the last few games, we are perhaps the strongest of all contenders for the title this season. But that’s about all one can say right now.

Again it will be City, Pool and us.

It’s crazy how all of a sudden likes of SkySports / BBC are reporting and talking about the title race already with full focus on Arsenal being favourites. It’s clear the media are putting pressure on Arsenal every way possible. Last week it was handbrake/handbrake and this week it’s winning the PL.

We are only 7 games into the season. The other two who are in the race (Liverpool and Manchester City) are opponents that we only managed to get a point from. Spurs are only couple of points behind us lol. We have Fulham/Crystal Palace in the next run which will be very tough.

Obviously, for Arsenal it doesn’t help having injuries week in and week out, we need absolute availability from players this season + winning against clubs that are easy on paper - low block sides.
