2024 Paris Olympics

And to think it’s their only shot for a lot of them :disappointed:

Devastating.

But yes, like you, I’ll miss the Olympics when they’re gone. It’s been an incredible watch (in spite of the travesty of not including karate this year)

Jamaica been fucked this olympics. I’ll forget it quickly. Bless Roje Stona for keeping the gold streak going.

Should’ve gotten maximum score for that

I always get a little triggered when football players take of their medals like the competition is beneath them. They’ve clearly spent too much time online listening to 12 year olds scream about not having elite mentality. Ive not seen it happen in literally any other sport at the olympics.

Should wear it proud and come back in 4 years to make it gold.

Fits in with that loser club Bayern already.

Weren’t losers when they played us

Damn you took this personally lol?

There is no desperate comparison.

It’s a simple comparison between gold medalist and silver medalist; two neighbouring countries. One country has set a huge budget, invested and provided good support (India) whereas Pakistan really did nothing for Arshad Khan. I’m basing this on the present.

Its probably because its been back in Europe for the first time since 2012 but I have really enjoyed this Olympic Games. Been a big part of my daily routine for the majority of the 2 weeks or so it’s been on

No one does a closing montage better than the BBC.

I didn’t expect to be on the verge of tears at 20 past 11 on a Sunday night. This is incredible

Agreed with your first post

But I feel the coverage this time has been pretty crap.

It’s like if the Brits or US weren’t involved there was zero coverage.

Wanted to see more of the Judo and Wrestling and they just don’t cover, or switch from BBC iPlayer to bbc one the moment it gets good or some Brit is riding a horse now.

I really support team GB but still want to see some cool shit.

It was better with the red button and multiple options. Now it was just 2

The BBC lost the majority of the rights to Discovery plus so they were limited in what they could show unfortunately.

I watched so much Olympics via my HBO subscription. They had live feeds of everything. Loved every bit of it.

Gutted the next one’s in LA followed by Australia. Time difference will be difficult to watch anything live.

Oh really? I did hear about a lot of it being behind a paywall.

The IOC are so corrupt man.

Such a disgrace having events like the world cup and Olympics not FTA. killing grassroots sports to line some fat cats pockets

The BBC actually posted about it before it started so people didn’t shout at them :joy:

I just watch to see smaller less funded nations prove they got talent in their homelands. One the very few opportunities they get. Seeing Dominica and St. Lucia get golds was cool as hell. Now if only the Jamaican women weren’t injured.

Ah didn’t know that, thought the bbc coverage was annoyingly limited compared to zdf in Germany but didn’t realise discovery had it on, could’ve watched there.

Oh well, thought it was a good olympics despite some poor organisation. Not having a real major track event on the final weekend was the only shit part.

Kayak cross is my new favourite event.

Was a pretty good Olympics, som very close calls and excitement in several sports, track and field in particular. I enjoyed the beach volley and table tennis the most. But I must say that the 3v3 basketball was very entertaining, despite my absolute hatred for “normal” basket. The climbing was excellent too and I definitely found a new sport to follow there.

I’ve been a keen handball enthusiast for many years. But I have to admit it’s come to a point that I don’t care anymore. It’s a sport without rules nowadays! I am biased of course, but when both referees refuse to watch the VAR footage of a clear breaking of the rules (by 3 players!), then it’s done for me. The same thing happened in the WC.

I’m also amazed by the display of extremely poor sportsmanship between Brazil and Spain in the women’s football and Germany-Netherlands in the field hockey final.

In Sweden Eurosport/MAX had the rights to the event, and it was a rather poor coverage. Someone at the top must be a horse lover, because in the dying moments of our surprising table tennis semifinal they switched to horse jumping, where Sweden already were out of the medal race :joy::man_shrugging: Which caused a nation wide outrage of course.

I’ve also enjoyed seeing the outrage by Christian fundamentalists (read Americans…) after the opening ceremony. And I had fun at all those misogynistic American who realised Mondo Duplantis was born in the USA. They didn’t know about him before the games, but now he’s suddenly a traitor  Even though the USA are the experts at stealing athletes…

Some very fun sports I’ve never followed (but looking forward to in 4 years) are the kayak cross, surfing and trampoline.

This is the first time I did not watch anything of the Olympics.
