2024 Paris Olympics

Give La Liga another 3 to 4 more high competitive teams, sure Real and Barca will not dominate Europe as easy as it looks like.

Check this, how many players they needed to play like Odegaard, Rice, Kai, Saka… 90-95% of all playing time against top teams and fought hard for the title for the whole season?
Most of them probably just played several “competitive” games a season.
If you play for Real or Barca, CL is basically automatic, doesn’t matter how bad your season is.
If you play for inferior teams, no pressure, EL is good enough.
Unlike City, all other EPL teams are killing each other for the top 4 spot.
London teams playing against each other for the “London” derby, everbody calling those games “rivalry”.
Before going out to play the European games, before the summer started for the NT, most EPL players were dead tired.

Tbf worth mentioning Spanish football has a ‘harsh’ fixture list just like England especially if your in all comps.

Just an example in January. Real Madrid played 7 games. Barcelona played 9. Athletic Bilbao played 7.

Also:

I don’t know if I’d describe Chelsea and United falling on their arses. Spurs shitting the bed and Aston Villa crawling over the finish line as ‘killing each other’ honestly

I don’t see much rivalry in other leagues than the EPL.
There is no easy game unless we are facing the bottom two teams.

Not me, but for a lot here would worry of 90% of all games before game starts, including teams we should not worry at all.

Just no easy fixture.

Well do you watch more PL or La Liga?

Only one of those on the list is a club team lol do women play in the PL now? Is it an U23 comp too?

All the club stuff is entirely Real and Barca, one of whom is now financially fucked. They also happily screw the other 18 Liga teams with the revenue split which doesn’t happen in the PL.

How do you objectively judge dancing? Different cultures with deep traditions would have different ideas of what good dancing would look like.

I’m assuming they probably have some specific grading system based on things like difficulty and uniqueness, but yeah the uniqueness element can be pretty subjective in the sense that unique doesn’t necessarily = good.

My initial thought is that it shouldn’t be in the Olympics but then again, I really don’t give a fuck about basically all of the sports in the Olympics anyway, and most of them are sports nobody gives a shit about anyway so I guess adding breakdancing doesn’t change much lol

I watch more PL, because of my support of Arsenal and then I watch some big games.

I’ll watch Real and Barcelona occasionally as well.

Do I really care about osasuna vs Levante? No

Neither do I care about Sheffield vs Everton :man_shrugging:t4:

As much as people flog la liga for being just real or Barcelona

The premier league is basically just City, with every season one club challenging them (Liverpool and last two seasons us)

La Liga clubs like Sevilla or Villarreal are much more accomplished in the Europa League than english clubs.

Jesus you’re tiresome. Always trying to disprove something.

‘best league in the world’ is just marketing and twitter bollocks. Even the league of Ireland markets itself as #greatestleagueintheworld regularly. Looking forward to your posts on why that isn’t accurate.

Maybe it’s just the Australian style? :bergkamp2:

Explains his absence lately

Olympics have been fabulous, enjoying it a lot. When it started i was like meh but damn its a riveting watch. I feel so terrible for all the athletes that get so close to medals and they just miss out coming in 4th or 5th. Still tho impressive af just to make a final.

I agree with your general sentiment but i think David Robinson would hold up well athletically and Hakeem would absolutely torch ppl in this era because the art of back to the basket skills by big men is dead. Plus look at a guy like Embid who benefits from all the weak touch foul calls cuz the league doesnt allow physical play.

But yeah the dream team is a bit overrated because honestly they were playing against plumbers. All of the teams in the international games these days have NBA players, the competition is so much better now.
