Some examples of Reform candidates…
Yep.
Just maybe things will get better for the average guy. It’s been getting worse for 30 odd years. I can tell life is great for you and I’m happy for you but people in this country are suffering… deaths of despair are rising.
And I’m a so called “minority” your racism claim is false. Seen more racism been directed more towards my white partner funny enough.
Anyways this convo is getting quite heavy… All I’m saying is I wish there was a large party that wasn’t Tory or Labor because both Tory and labor have had multiple chances and have left us worse off every single time.
We are all Gooners here. I hate how these damn politicians have us fighting and arguing among ourselves while they loot and abuse us.
We can just agree to disagree while supporting the Arsenal. It’s all love
Surprised the article didn’t mention it, but Neil Coyle is another good example of a Reform candidate being a racist and still being able to stand at this election.
Oh no, I agree with all the above. My racist claim is at Reform the party + leader, not you. It’s mainly Nigel Farage who is very much a massive racist.
That said, I’d also like to see an end to the two-party dominance too. The political system isn’t fair, but I can’t see it changing for a very, very long time.
I looked it up and it says Neil Coyle is standing to be a Labour MP? Is there another?
I rather fiendishly wanted @The_Invincibles to agree that it was unacceptable racism and that he should not be standing, only to reveal it was in fact a Starmerite.
I got a like from him, so claiming that as half a victory
I’m sorry that your opinion of me is so bad…not sure how I have given off the impression that I think it is ok for someone to make racist statements and stand for election? I liked your post because I agree with you. It is not acceptable for anyone to behave like this, irrespective of who they are standing for.
Its not so much that I think you think racism is ok, or anything that deep, it’s more that I think you’re committed enough to Starmer’s political project that you’ll possibly deny things you otherwise wouldn’t. Like our previous conversation when you somehow maintained that Starmer did not lie about the investigation into Abbott being ongoing when it had been completed months before. If everything was exactly the same in that scenario, except we were discussing Johnson and not Starmer, I suspect there’d have been no debate.
I should stress that I was being playful here, and did not mean to cause any offence or overstep any lines, so I sincerely apologise if I have given any offence. It was all meant to be lighthearted and just a bit of banter between two people who have minor differences politically, but actually broadly sit on the same part of the political spectrum.
Just to be absolutely clear, I don’t think racism in any form is acceptable under any circumstances.
When it comes to politics I think you would be surprised by some of my views and contrary to what you may think I have no affiliation or commitment to any political project. I haven’t actually decided how I am going to vote at the election yet, albeit, I have decided that I will be voting.
I don’t want to open up the whole Diana Abbott debate again. I understand the point you were trying to make, but think we will have to agree to disagree.
And no need to apologise and no offence taken. I enjoy debating things with you on here and agree with many of the things you say. I’m feeling pretty low today, so sorry if I came across slightly defensive in my reply.
In which case, I was clearly labouring under a misunderstanding of your commitment to Labour/Starmer
Sorry to hear that mate, hope it’s nothing too serious and more of a fleeting feeling. I can certainly relate to having low days from time to time, even if my mental health is generally pretty good these days compared to what it once was.
Definitely no apology needed on your part, perfectly fine for you to have a reaction to someone suggesting you might be partisan enough to defend Coyle’s racism and the decision to let him stand. It was meant wholly jokingly, but looking back it was probably a bit out of order, even if it was totally meant playfully.
I don’t know what to think of this. I find politicians very insincere when they talk about disabled people and disabled children especially. I tend to think they like to trot them out when it suits them and forget them when it doesn’t.
I don’t know whether to see this as something to be admired or a cynical attempt to use personal circumstances to gain votes. They certainly didn’t fight for anyone vulnerable in the coalition. I’d love to think there’s a leader of a significant party who values the biggest issue to me as a parent of a disabled child. I just don’t know that I trust that party after what they did with the biggest chance they are ever likely to have to make a difference.
It is so bizarre that he is so unfunny to us, but the Americans love him

What a wanker
Such power hungry lying shitheads man
Such a strange thing to say, twice.
I loathe to defend Starmer but is that really controversial? People were saying the same thing about Albania no?
One thing I’ll say though, I notice Starmer changes tack depending on the audience, it’s very slimy and not very authentic. I don’t know how you can trust this man.
I think if you single out a country, then you’re asking for trouble.
But I agree on the slimyness of Starmer. He reminds me of Trudeau, but without the blackface.
Seems a bit thin tbh. Def odd to single out Bangladesh but it’s nothing to cry about. People are desperately trying to paint KS as an islamophobe
Other than that, Labour are really weak on immigration. Will be an easy attack line in the years ahead
