Your Worst Football Takes

Inspired by @GC-Maniac’s unnecessary honesty

In that spirit, fess up to your worst football takes.

I can’t think of a worse one I’ve had than once saying I’d sign Gareth Barry over Xabi Alonso :joy:

I mean I was advocating for us to sign Emi Buendia instead of Odegaard lol

Nasri is better than Modric

Holding is better than Stones

As bad as they are, I would like to point out that this forum came with below gem

Bendtner can be like Ibrahimovic

I used to think that

I think I’d say:

Saka wouldn’t amount to much is one of my poorer takes

Odegaard is a pussy and doesn’t have what it takes. This was before his two season run where he looked exceptional at times.

Definitely plenty of horrid takes would have to go through some of them lol

Great thread. I backed Merino to the core when we signed him and honestly it’s fallen completely flat on its face because lets be real he wasn’t signed to be a False 9. He’s done well there but as a CM it’s been very underwhelming.

I genuinely thought we wouldn’t score more than 60 goals in all comps this season based on the quality and style of play early on.

I, alongside many others I might add, thought Squillaci was gonna be an absolute beast for us.

can add Lichtsteiner to that too. I thought he was a proven winner that would make our defence imperious.

Really wanted us to sign Morgan Schneiderlin and was distraught when United beat us to the signing.

I think I’m not the only one who got caught up in the idea of Chris Samba becoming the next Sol Campbell here.

Went on to have a great career…

I thought Nkertiah should have stayed here.

Also that spurs and Man U would both be challenging for the CL places, although ironically, despite both clubs having their lowest PL finish, one of them actually will qualify for the CL.

Somewhere along the line i shamefully thought that Scott Parker would have been a good signing for us

Damn, I remember getting far too invested in the idea of signing Schneiderlin too.

Fast forward a few years and I forgot the man ever existed

Seeing and suffering Spurs winning the Europa final would at least provide a real and final nail in United’s coffin and provide a LOT of hilarity.

But ewww, it’s Spurs so it’s a really bad take.

Thinking Sterling would be an astute back up this season :face_vomiting:

Doesn’t belong in this thread, I’m sure you can do better

I really wanted Lemar and was furious we didn’t outbid Atletico
