Austin is the best example in can think of why it is so significant that WWE take better care of their wrestlers now. I know the neck injury was a botch by a usually superb performer in Owen Hart, but piledrivers were still allowed at the time when they should, even at that time, have been banned. How much longer might we have had peak Austin for if current standards were in place then?

I think Austin was just as messed up in the knees as the neck though. I think the creative started to become shit after Mania X7 and I think he was mentally drained too

He’d also had some issues with his heart the night before Mania 19 so I don’t think he’d have wanted to keep pumping in the drugs, going on the road so much and keeping that schedule.

I think he quits regardless maybe just an extra year or so on his career

Interesting, this is big from Tony. He refused to match whatever WWE offered to Kevin as well.
I guess he doesn’t want to be bullied around? Still, good luck telling to WarnerMedia that you just lost their go to ā€œwrestlingā€ guy.
Who even takes his place for that shit? I don’t think Punk or Bryan have any interest doing that.

Funnily enough, maybe Alaistair ā€œMalakaiā€ Black? I’ve been told that he was brimming with ideas when he first joined the roster.

Is he that marketable? I did say Punk wouldn’t do it but if the project is right he’ll be up for it come to think about it. He did join WWE Backstage. I know he wants to do some NHL stuff and that’s on TNT.
There is also Jericho.

Fox were pretty angry with WWE for not signing Punk, he had a really good relationship with them through the Backstage stuff. He could step into a role like Cody’s for AEW.

It was pretty clear from the press conferences Khan and Punk did together that Khan saw Punk as more than a wrestling signing for AEW, and he’s certainly got the creative pedigree in improving ratings/views.

I think Punk is into the sports crossover and doing movies/series but he certainly ain’t doing a reality show. Him and AJ would hate it.
WWE and E! did try to get AJ to do Total Divas when she was in WWE and she not only rejected the offers but she even blasted them for being fake.

True, but it’s not like everything Cody did needs to be taken over by one person

For anyone interested, Wade Keller(who has been one of the few to report Cody having heat in AEW in the past) talked about what essentially went wrong with Cody and AEW to result in their split.

AEW have had a lot of big moments in the last year but there’s no question this is a huge L for them. If Cody turns up in WWE it’s a big embarrassment, someone so directly connected to the founding of the company and its direction.

Guys I’m really fucking hyped for Austin potentially coming back. He was my fav growing up and to see him wrestle again for the first time in nearly 20 years would be incredible

If Austin comes back I’ll go to WrestleMania in Texas this year. That’s for sure.

Tickets have probably sold out lol

I’m not fussed resale tickets are easy to get if that’s the case.

Actually… :rofl::rofl:
They’re far from sold out, in fact, they were having a sale a week ago I think because there isn’t that much demand. :grimacing:
It’s precisely why they’re pulling all the stop with Austin, Cody and it seems like The Rock(surely to be involved with Roman and Brock) too all appearing at Wrestlemania.

The whole 2 day WM is taking a toll on the event and they’re gonna have the NXT event around midday apparently on Day 1.

What?
