Wrestling

Is it this Sunday?

Is there anything on the card to whet the appetite?

2-day event in 2 weeks.
That’s 10th and 11th of April.

Probably not lol, might have to watch 2-3 a night :grimacing:

WrestleMania 11 was bad, not terrible, but bad. 3/10

1995 was just a disaster of a year for wrestling. Well we got WCW Nitro out of it. Good enough sacrifice.

Yep, the RR, WM, KOTR, SummerSlam- all crap in 95.

The Survivor Series wasn’t bad.

WCW wasn’t much better, Dungeon of fucking Doom…

They did finish 1995 strong though, Ric Flair vs Savage and Starrcade 1995 (Ironically didn’t involve Hogan) was good.

I think WCW stopped coming on ITV by 1995, too. Fair play to you for following it back then.

Watching Mania’s 2 and 9 later pray for me

I didn’t, I was born in 1994  binge watched on the network.

If WM9 had better endings to their matches, the card wasn’t bad at all.

Luger v Mr Perfect
Bret v Yokozuna
Giant Gonzales v Taker

They could have made Macho Man wrestle too, but he was too busy decking Hogan and giving him a black eye.

Fucking hell man how did you remember that, watching WCW on channel 3 was my first exposure to Wrestling as we didn’t have sky back in the day. Got numerous beatings for copying Rick Rude dance at home and school (who was my favourite wrestler). Talking about like 92/93. After that started watching all the WWF stuff. Kudos to ITV I’m sure it helped a whole generation of kids get into wrestling.

I don’t know how I missed WCW back then. I would have watched any wrestling I knew about including whatever the English fed with Big Daddy in it was.

Ey “what I would like is for all you fat, ugly summer slam hogs to keep it down” Rick Rude was the original OG.

So much awesome stories on Stone colds pod show with the Undertaker and other guests and Joe rogan as well. Would recommend it.

Yep, 45 minute episodes of WCW. I still remember the epic theme tune.

The first ever one (televised on ITV) involved Marcus Bagwell get battered by the champion Big Van Vader only for Sting to come out and carry Bagwell away.

Rick Rude and Medusa :joy: legendary. He had a great match with Nikita Koloff one time.

They also showed highlights of Ron Simmons (better known as farooq- DAMN!) beating Vader to become the first black champion I can remember. A good 25 years before WWF did it. Ever the progressive, Vinnie Mac :man_facepalming:

I don’t see how you can legitimately claim that when Booker T held titles in the early 2000’s.

Honestly Wrestling from the mid 80s to the very early 00s was some of the best entertainment on telly. Proper spectacles with crazy story lines.

I rented everything they had from blockbuster, and after we got sky recorded everything on VHS.

I don’t think he ever held the WWE championship, did he? (Even during the Invasion angle, he only retained and lost his old World Heavyweight champion title from WCW)

I’d love to be wrong on this but I can only think of Kofi Kingston being the first black man to lift the WWE title and then Jinder Mahal the first Indian a few years later.

I can remember trying to buy WWF ppvs on VHS was extortionately expensive. ÂŁ15 from Olympus Sports.
