It always starts this way with him. Then his true colours shine through and it will all end in an egotistical mess.

Going to give the Raw highlights a miss. I’ve got no interest in hearing anything he’s got to say in or out of character.

I know you dislike hin now but is it really to a point where you won’t watch WWE for it?

Tbf I have heard a few people make a collective groan over Punk rejoining WWE. It’s not an unusual take by any stretch of the imagination.

I don’t care about him upsetting AEW in and of itself. But what I think the press conference showed as well as his behaviour when he came back was that he’s basically full of shit.

He became a star for giving a voice to frustrations lots of fans had with modern wrestling in 2011, and he’s always talked a big game about wanting to elevate others, but what becomes clear when you look at him walking out on WWE in 2014 in the context of what happened later in AEW is that it was always about him, and him only. When he’s not getting his way, that’s when he kicks off. Not because Tyson Kidd was getting featured less on Raw than the invisible child R Truth brought to the ring (for example).

I can’t listen to another one of his self righteous rants where he makes himself out to be some kind of wrestling messiah in the context of the behaviour that shows again and again that he is the problem and the problem is no more than him not getting what he wants all the time.

I wish I could say the same but I can’t.
It’s overwhelmingly positive, to the point where it’s facetious because a lot people who are excited now used to shit on him constantly when he was in AEW.

I guess that’s the tribalism in wrestling.

Although I don’t sympathize I get your frustration over it.

However, isn’t this him? Isn’t this what makes him compelling? That he simply doesn’t have filter and it’s very unpredictable. Isn’t what his whole theme song is about? Cult of Personality.
Was All Out in 2020 the eye opener for you?
You should have him figured out by now

He’ll be out in 2 on “good” behaviour

If this happens and successful, wouldn’t surprise me if we see Punk and Rollins being the final two in the rumble with Punk winning and going on to main event against Roman at Mania.

Speaking of mania, the roster is stacked right now and Brock will surely be back for it as well. How’s a potential card even looking when it comes to predictions.

There’s talk of Mercedes and AJ Lee returning as well.

And we still haven’t see Jade Cargill wrestle.
They also are gonna sign some Giulia that wrestles in Japan and is the next big thing over there.

Logic and history says WWE would relax while being on top but they’re on the offensive here which is very refreshing.

It wasn’t any surprise to me that he was a massive egoist. You’d struggle to miss that. It’s more that what he did in 2011 was so attention grabbing because it seemed so different and of course a lot about it was. But at the core was this talent that seemed to be a unique circumstance.

But actually, when you look at 2011 now with the context of this period he’s just come through in AEW you see it wasn’t actually that unusual at all - he was an upper midcarder frustrated at not making the breakthrough to the top level and he got angry about it and shared his sour grapes. The major difference was he did it on tv, and it’s worth keeping in mind that was Vince’s idea to have him do that.

It’s the window dressing he insisted on then, and in his 2011-2014 run in WWE and when he came to AEW that he’s somehow also in it for other people that comes off so phoney now. Because he’s only happy when he’s the focus.

In that 2011-2014 run he was WWE champion for 400 plus days, the longest run there’d been for decades at that time and only beaten since by part time champions who don’t defend the belt every month. It’s no surprise that was his most stable period post-pipe bomb because even though that title reign wasn’t fantastically booked, it was indisputable he was in a very enviable spot with matches that might not always have been the main event but were always featured attractions with the tv time and spotlight that came with it. Apart from Cena he was the only other wrestler to get a program with The Rock for example.

After that reign he was never going to be content with going back to the upper midcard. And I’m not laying all the blame at his door. WWE kept making him work a stupid schedule whilst injured (something they’ve vastly improved on in his absence) and his creative, aside from the Brock Lesnar match which was one of his best, was quite uninspiring.

In many ways he’s now taking Edge’s spot. A legend who could potentially work quite a limited schedule, and leave him plenty of time for his various other pursuits. A potential way into UFC as a pundit which is something he has experience in too. Probably a much nicer schedule than he had in AEW and him not being around all the time might curb his worst excesses as well as WWE’s much more professional environment. It could work, if he doesn’t get in his own way.

But I’m not here for any more of his self righteousness or his belief that he and only he knows that is right for wrestling. I just am not in a frame of mind to watch him at the moment.

Fuck you dude, that’s way too long to read.

Edit: I have read it now though. Okay, I think what you say is fair.

WM 2025 legit needs to be three days

I can’t sit through 3 nights of wrestling on the bounce :grinning:

MJF actually announced it but then deleted. I mean…I’m not surprised. He’s been wrestling like a maniac(no oun intended) recently when it wasn’t needed.

They’re probably gonna pull the trigger on the Devil angle at World’s End and then MJF will take time off.

Samoa Joe being the world champion of a major promotion in 2024 is wild. I’ll take it though because Joe is fucking awesome.

This.

It needs to happen. Crowd will be pumped for that.

Tony Khan won’t know what to do with a title-less MJF, though lol

It was a shame WWE didn’t do more with Joe, he was clearly main event stuff anywhere.

Triple H fucking loved him too. He would have snatched him up if he was still a free agent when he took over.

To give some credit to AEW though, if they got something right it’s Joe. They actually made him a big deal again.

Tony’s right hand man has resigned. Worth noting QT is one Cody’s closest friends and has attended multiple WWE events backstage as part of Cody’s entourage.

Edit: There’s been a lot of “I love AEW” posts from AEW talent since Saturday. Apparently some memo went out that Punk may bury AEW tonight on RAW and they’ve been urged to essentially show their appreciation for AEW.
