A lot of people thought he’d be one to sit on his contract given the high wages and his advancing age. The fact he’s shown a willingness to leave and is likely leaving money on the table says a lot. Fair play to Willian.

Why should it matter who wanted him or not? William could have been like the other fellas and sit on his contract for the next 2 years. He could easily have demanded his contract worth and get Edu to pay him in kind.
But we’ll see what Arsenal says as this info is from Kia’s mouth.
