William Saliba (2)

I don’t see much wrong with what superarse is saying tbh, I always said we don’t need to worry about Saliba he seems very happy here and it’s good we’ve secured the bag if nothing else.

Two more years with no trophies to show for it and I’d very well expect him to consider Madrid again, it’s whether they’d want to pay up.

No problems all round, we now get 2-3 more years without worrying about him leaving, or if he does it’s for world record type money for a CB.

Everything is good just need the Arsenal.com announcement.

Some fans worry more than the owner/management and players, not just about winning titles/trophies, but also on transfer fees and salaries…

Nah, it’s what every Lee Gunner acolyte on Reddit/X has been telling us for the last few years, so they can save it for their pathetic gotcha moment.

Too busy thinking about the downfall of the club and how to dump on other fans who think otherwise.

Saka next.

Massive news and a huge boost…despite all the moans from certain fans and pundits, it seems pretty clear that the players are fully behind Arteta and the project. Easily gives us three more seasons with Saliba and preserves his potential transfer value too.

Our defence has to be one of the best in the world now, surely…?

I don’t know about that but at the very least, this ensures we get a handsome price for them if they do decide to leave.

Fair enough but that ain’t me. I’m AFC first, staff second.

The players and the manager are not the club, they’re just employees.

They will all leave eventually, but us fans will be still be here.

Anyone who wants the downfall of the club is not a fan.

Keep telling yourself that, you might believe it.

Ok cool, just placing you on ignore. No point having a discussion with someone who can’t make a point in good faith.

It’s not a crazy assumption that top players will seek success elsewhere if the club that they currently play for have gone half a season without silverware.

Saliba and Saka will not go another five years without trophies. There is a good chance that this will come at Arsenal now that we are retaining top talent.

I think the other thing fans tend not to acknowledge as often is that these competitors will all genuinely believe they can be the difference in winning trophies and we are about as close as you can get without having done so of late.

It’s not Iike it was in the later Wenger years, we are widely considered to be one of the genuine top 10 teams in the world and we are more than likely at the lower end of that.

This kid is our main man.

If that wasn’t clear yet, it is after today’s first half. Glue guy.

Not fully fit yet. This is clear

I still see Gabriel as our main cb but that is partly due to the intangible stuff.

I feel like Saliba is rather the ‘intangible’ guy. As the leader of the back line, to be the glue guy of the defence etc.

More importantly, we the fans and Arteta will not go another 5 years without trophies.

I always thought his last extension would be his last but you just know Arsenal aren’t the same old operating club anymore. Finally resigned a player on a long contract in his prime. Massive.

I thought we lost a great talent when we unlisted him from PL squad (what a piss poor decision it was and that doesn’t change just because it turned out well) after not letting him play in the cup final.
At the time, the bridge was kinda burned. Often with French youngsters, they tend to be bit hot headed. Thankfully an injury to Tomiyasu gave way for Saliba in middle & White as RB.

Getting to watch him as starting CB for last 3 seasons and 3-4 more would be a great pleasure.

How do you or any of us know that it was not fully agreed with Saliba and that he was completely on board with his development plan? Arteta has said it was all agreed and Saliba never came out and complained about it…

Arteta - "Hey Saliba,
We couldn’t sort out a loan move for you.

To make it worse, You are not going to be listed in PL & EL squad so you won’t play a single minute for next 6 months. You are a generational talent as everyone must have told you so missing 6 months of competitive football should be fine.

To rub it in, I am going to enlist Pablo Mari who is less talented than you and is currently injured till November.

To rub it in even further, I am going to enlist Mustafi who is one of worse defenders this club has seen and who is also injured and I don’t plan to use him unless required.

To rub it in even further, I am going to enlist Rob Holding and play him as a starting CB for a whole season."

Saliba - “Ah cool, I am completely on board with this development plan. Chuck me in Premier League 2. Don’t even play me in EFL Cup, play me in second grade EFL Trophy”

Help me get onboard with that bullshit

To simplify, How is not playing for 6 months good for development?
