William Saliba (2)

Although it’s indirect, it’s nice that Jesus is vocal about Holding being why we had a poor run of games.

Let’s hope Holding is more mature and keeps his mouth shut about the sitters Jesus missed.

That should have been a hand-ball

Not as simple as that though is it…Partey was compensating for inadequacies behind him, which hugely impacted his game because he more than anyone was tasked with trying to cover for Holding. It meant we were defending deeper, allowed teams to press more, the ripple effect is huge and allowed us to get over-run in the midfield in many games. A more competent defender behind him gives Partey the opportunity to press/intercept/tackle higher up the pitch without the worry that if the ball gets passed him, it is almost certainly a goal/pen with Rob as the last man.

As a team we ran out of steam.
Players that were once our mainstays on the ball in passing and keeping possession, were suddenly giving the ball away constantly during every game. Our overall quality from back to front dropped.

Its not Holdings fault at all, yes we played differently, and did miss Saliba but our bad run in was not down to Rob Holding.

Partey turned to total shit though. We’re not talking about a slight dip in performances because he had to do more work for an inferior replacement team mate, and adapt his role from what it previously was, which would be understandable to an extent.

Holding replacing Saliba will never be justification enough for Partey’s collapse in form, not for me.

After the World Cup, Arsenal conceded 14 goals in 13 games with Saliba.

Saliba gets injured. Holding and the rest of the backline ships 13 goals in 6 games.

Holding gets dropped and the team returns to conceding a goal a game. 5 goals in 5 games.

OK, we clearly see it differently. The way we play caused the drop IMO - if we had a Mourinho park the bus style, then I believe we wouldn’t have seen the noticeable drop off. Our game is built around space, managing and exploiting that space, Partey was exposed more in our setup than he would have in most other teams.

Yeah, I think we see it differently, I absolutely believe that a portion of the blame lies at Partey’s door, as well as some of it being due to corcumstances outside of his control.

I don’t think one of your best and most experienced players gets that sort of complete pass.

Hate saying this but getting this deal done is like a new signing. One of the best young defenders in the world wrapped up until 2028 is huge.

I hope he is too

As a supporter its much nicer to see our players happy and smiling as they sign deals to stay at our club rather than looking like a moody teenager who has been asked to tidy his room.

It’s probably the thousandth photo he’s took today tho

I like our players to be happy and proud that theyre playing for The Arsenal.
I stand by that lol

I dont want them signing multi million pound long term contracts for our club, the best club in the world, and looking like theyve just been told they have months left to live.

Its just a smile

It’s just a joke

I know mate, just re-iterating what I said before

Nah you’re right he simply went wank at the wrong time, he was one of 2-3 that utterly dropped off and had their bad patch (most players have one in a season) all at the same crucial time.

I think we end up with 3-4 more points had Saliba stayed fit but then city wouldn’t have have dropped the points at the end.

Plus some people just don’t like their photos being took. I for one hate when I have to have my photos taken to the point where I can’t even force a smile
