They’ll do some fancy graphic like a shot of him scoring that banger and the ball turning into a ball of fire which blows up the number 1 leaving only the 2 behind.
VVD anywhere near the top 10 and no Gabriel makes that list utter trash
VVD is washed beyond belief until proven otherwise, not even now half the player he was previously
Gabriel had a better season than Saliba.
Varane and even Shaw had a better season at CB than Lisandro.
The fuck is Virgil doing here.
Militao has been awful recently.
The list is a shambles.
Crazy the disrespect Gabriel gets. The guy is a fucking beast.
Saliba 4th is very funny, he’s top 15 not top 10 imo
Maybe not top 10 cb quite yet with his ability but defo top 5 imo in terms of transfer value.
Appreciate Gvardiol is supposed to be good but what has he gone to warrant being so high?
Absolute shocking list. As it stands today Gabriel is the best CB at Arsenal, and has been for 2 seasons straight. VVD… , an absolute shadow of his former self.
Vid is in Portuguese…no subs
tongue in cheek saying other defenders were crap after saliba ‘the other defenders are good’ you just know he talking in a ‘nice’ way about a certain CB that was used after Salibas Injury.
Woah woah woah, you can’t possibly blame Holding. He didn’t make any mistakes leading to goals. Certainly can’t be his fault.
Yeah, easy way to shit on someone indirectly.
It wasn’t that you’re shit, it’s cause the other guy is so good.
The players certainly blamed Holding for their poor form. I remember Odegaard, Partey and others getting visibly angry at him during games by the end of it. Similar way to how they used to get angry at Lokonga.
I got the rationale with Lokonga, dude was infuriatingly nonchalant in games when the others are always high tempo. There was a big disconnect there.
On Holding though, it is a cheap cop-out.
Not Holding’s fault that Xhaka and Odegaard no-showed at the Etihad. Not Holding’s fault that Tierney got caught sleeping for West Ham’s second goal or Saka missing the pen. Not Holding’s fault for Zinchenko getting nutmegged by Trent. Not Holding’s fault that Ramsdale passed the ball straight to an opponent early in the game to gift them a goal.
These players need to look a themselves first and foremost. That’s the only way they can get to the next step. You can selectively look at the stats and say Saliba’s injury started it all but it was statistically and practically proven that we got worse at defending ever since we came back from the WC.
Partey giving the ball to Rice as well, must’ve been bobby’s fault.
It’s not a cop out. Holding is so bad that the players wouldn’t pass to him. We had Partey dropping into the centerback position to receive the ball. If you have a guy who is a total zero in possession like that it’s going to ripple through the team. It’s absolutely no coincidence that White, Gabriel, Partey and Ramsdale had dips in their form with Holding around. White was basically holding his hand through matches.
Did Holding score six own goals during his appearances? Of course not. Did he make any high profile blunders? Not really. But if we all know he’s not very good on the ball, then the guys he plays with day in and day out know it too and it affected the whole team.
The team (and manager) should be able to solve relatively minor problems as they arise. There’s always going to be injuries happening which means the way you want to play is disrupted.
Players cant throw there hands up in the air and say there’s nothing we can do our Right hand side build up isn’t as good now, GG.
There’s plenty of solutions in the team to minimise the impact, instead many of our players went full retard in key moments and made the situation worse.
Holding’s bad aura also cost us against Brighton at home when they came to our turf and slapped us.
It also affected the boys against Forest when they couldn’t string more than two passes together and stop running into each other in the first half.
Holding is average, he needs to fuck off, hardly anyone would argue against it, but he wasn’t the really the reason we capitulated.
Holding coming in coincided with Partey turning into a zombie footballer and then eventually losing his place altogether to a player in Jorginho with very little physical presence or tackling ability. I don’t think you can really disentangle these two things but the combination killed us as we went from having a central defensive trio (Saliba-Gabriel-Partey) that was both our base in possession and arguably the most athletic in the league when defending open space to a lumbering and indecisive one that couldn’t play our brand of football in or out of possession.
Not every mistake was Holding’s fault but our problems really did derive from our platform getting destroyed. It’s not a coincidence that Arteta wants Rice and Timber.
Tbh I reckon team had basically given up by then. Once City rekt us, we were just waiting for the season to be over.
If Partey is wholly reliant on a 21 year old centre back playing behind him, and becomes total shit the minute he isn’t available, then he isn’t half the player I thought he was.
Holding is crap but I’m not really on board with blaming him for Partey turning to shit when we needed him most.
