The current deal has no further option to extend as we used it at the beginning of the year. The new deal will have an option to extend for an additional year if the reports are to be believed.

On that kind of wage I’m expecting a big big season from him next year.
You’d expect it even if he wasn’t paid that much. The way I see it, the club is protecting itself from having to go into the market and spend potentially more money in terms of a fee and wages to get a guy who isn’t a known quantity.
There are concerns about the back injury of course but it’s a gamble worth taking imo.

200k is about what I thought it would take and it’s a no brainer, if you sell him with 1 year to run you’ll get no more than 50 mill and have to spend that on a replacement anyways + the wages the replacement will want.

People remembering discobot exists is a bad omen for this transfer window.
200k/week x 52 x 5 = North of £50m. In that case it is worth it to keep him.
If we still him 2 years from now, and he’s still a world beater, then we should be able to get at least £80-100 m for him.
