Wigan legend. Would be worth £50M these days for sure (just found out he still plays)
Great song… reminds me of Capaldi’s ‘Pointless’.
Love a bit of SFA.
All the Blur vs Oasis bollocks back in the 90s, all the while these guys, and the other Super(grass) were the true Brit pop goats.
Totally agree. SFA’s only disappointing studio album was their ninth.
Lost count of the amount of times I’ve seen them live and they’re always brilliant.
I had the honour of representing my company at their debut album launch party at the Aquarium in Moorgate, London. It was a bit intense so me and my girlfriend asked some guys if we could join them in a quieter area of the club, they welcomed us in, put beers in our hands and started chatting. It was only then that I realised they were the band. Really nice guys and very funny. One of the best nights of my life and it still feels like a dream.
Blur and Oasis can only dream of making tracks as brilliant as Slow Life and Ice Hockey Hair.
Sadly never got to see them live, but i did get to see Heart do “The Led Zeppelin Experience” with Bonham’s son doing drums… was pretty fantastic and Ann could still belt it out insanely.. they have always been huge Led Zeppelin fans so it was really great.
Great song. Underrated band sometimes.. ofc Lola is just so good, but I always really loved this beautiful piece:
The Kinks are a great band (better than the Beatles. Fact.) Celluloid Heroes is one of my favourite songs, not just of theirs, but of any music.
Celluloid Heroes
Living On A Thin Line
I’m Not Like Everybody Else
Strangers
Victoria
Waterloo Sunset
Sunny Afternoon
Days
Moving Pictures
Little Bit of Emotion
Misery
Top class.
I’m away at the moment, so if any of you have recommendations from Glastonbury, chuck them my way.
I hear Pulp’s set was brilliant.
And Bob Vylan deciding to do live on the BBC what the BBC feared Kneecap would (and therefore refused to show Kneecap live) was poetic. I’ll leave it there, this isn’t a political thread, but sometimes music and current affairs meet.
The Kinks are great. I randomly went and saw the jukebox musical based on their catalogue a few years ago and had a great time.
