Virgil van Dijk

Vvd isn’t even kompany level nevermind vidic, Rio, sol, Adams.

Less than 2 years of beast quality from him, everything before and since rules him out of any top level discussion, even just in the PL.

Van Dijk isn’t top twenty. Not sure he’s even top three Dutch CBs I’ve seen. Stam and Rijkaard are defintely 1 and 2.

not sure if he ranks higher than Koeman and De Boer also.

Good call, particularly with Koeman. Van Dijk was definitely the best centre back in the world for a time but I’d question the level of competition he faced and the amount of top defenders in the world at the time.

Dead ball specialist. And Benny Hill lookalike.

Definitely better than van Dijk

His “high” was such a short period of time, and should never be any GOAT discussion.
He did not even had two full seasons as “great”.

I get what he’s saying but that’s awful to hear from your captain. Certainly won’t make Liverpool fans feel any better about their situation.

His contract is running down. He’ll likely move in the summer, and this is him preparing the fans for him leaving.

We’ll hear similar things from Salah in the coming weeks. Both of them will only have 12 months left on their contracts this coming summer.

Salah and VVD, even if at the very end of their primes, will be the spine ripped out of that Liverpool team.

You love to see it

This one is much less surprising than Klopp leavng tbh

On one hand, cashing in on those two now makes sense. On the other hand, with Klopp leaving you need some stability and having such key players around in that time is essential.

There’s also the other point that Liverpool fans have no faith in their management without Klopp and I think this comment from Virgil will be looked as a sign that the players have no faith in them either.
