Didn’t even know he’ll be available for only 70M lol
That’s a mad price for a 9 like him.
Getting him and Nico for around €120-130M combined would be an absolute robbery.

Even better if we buy a winger more capable than Williams. I just can’t see past Gyokeres at Liverpool sadly.
We buy Viktor, Liverpool pivot and buy Sesko.
Gyokeres flops and Sesko bangs, and I will tell you all that I told you so
It still seems a lot for a player whose only been playing on the highest level sinds the summer of 2023. Obviously players who had proven the same or even less (Felix, Fernandez, Nunez) have gone for more money but at least they had the illusion of potential because of their age.
70m euro won’t buy you a striker of Hojlund level. I would be very surprised one of the world’s best strikers in last 2 seasons will be bought at that price.
It’s his release clause isn’t it?
Haaland was even below that, no?
Will only have confidence in these links once blink has posted indy confirming our interest. Until then, take it with a pinch of salt.
Better late than never I suppose
He had a contractual clause and unless there is some contractual clause that allows Gyokeres to leave for 70m euros, I don’t see it happening.
Clause is higher I think, there’s rumour of an agreement between him and sporting for this summer but I doubt that will hold with significant interest.
Tbf thinking about it now you do have a point.
I thought there is supposed to be some kind of clause where it goes from 100M to 70M after this season.
It doesn’t make sense for Sporting to make him available for 70M just like that, just to be nice to him lol, after his 100M release clause has expired. In nowadays market they can absolutely demand much more for a prolific goalscorer like him.
It all seems like pure journalist speculation.
Had to check the reports…
It is BBC, but it honestly doesn’t make sense at all. Why would they let him go for just 70M after he just had an even better season after an incredible previous one. Sounds like a nice gentleman’s agreement, but modern football simply doesn’t work this way.
He could go for that in the end, but from their (Sporting) standpoint it doesn’t make sense to go out publicly (not directly) and make one of 2-3 (him and Isak) somewhat reliable 9’s in football atm which aren’t already taken by the top clubs avalibale for 70M. I’m sure even smaller clubs in smaller leagues would demand 100+M and would do all they can to create a bidding war.
The BBC article sounds like a fairy tale honestly. Can’t see the logic behind it.
Even if it is true, it would require a heavy upfront payment rather than 70m in stages.
It would be in PL clubs’ interest to pay more to avoid PSR fines.
Isn’t his release clause £83m though? So reportedly €100m.
So £60m-£70m isn’t such a massive drop
I don’t see 70m is enough to get him also.
Exactly.
To get Gyokeres for around half of what Isaac is rumoured to be going for would be madness and it’s going to be difficult with so many other clubs desperate for a striker, especially as Man U, Chelsea and every other top European club that are interested, will push the price up.
Or this is what his agent is feeding the media. I would not be shocked at all if Sporting did indeed tell Gyokeres and his agent that but as he may learn(like many others before him), these gentlemen’s agreements don’t mean shit.
If there is enough interest in him, Sporting will have no problem inviting a bidding war.
But that’s the big caveat, is there enough interest in him?
All of Arsenal, United, Chelsea, Newcastle(if Isak leaves), Liverpool need a center forward.
And that’s just PL clubs.
If Salah leaves Liverpool, they’ll be desperate to replace him with a big name signing and so will Newcastle if they sell Isaak.
It means with big spenders like Man U, Chelsea, etc, turning it into a bidding war, he’s going to be nearer 100m so for us, a player like Seiko might be more likely, especially as we need a LW as well.
