The way we play needs to change

Our so called style is whack

Yep.

Our open play chance creation was piss poor for the whole season, with about 4-5 games making an exception.

That need needs to improve, and while I expect Gyokeres to help in that sense too, we need more than just him, when it comes to our attacking. We should absolutely push for another, starting, LW too. Probably just as important as a new 9.

Still not convinced by Gyokeres tbh. His numbers don’t mean much as the defense in the Portuguese league looks unbelievably crap. The amount of time he has on the ball inside the box is unreal. No wonder Darwin Nunez, Hulk, Jackson Martinez (to name a few) were flying like Messi in there before they got exposed in a tougher league. But then again, can’t think of any quality striker out there in the market who is attainable. The market of quality strikers seems to be be at an all time low right now.

1/ that’s why City is shit this season.
2/ prior to this past season, a lot of teams bowed to them before game started. Teams were likely to park the bus against us but not to City
3/ Haaland was a beast before this season

Just interrupting this river flow of ITK garbage to say this shit is still funny.

The chins will still be being stroked on this transfer window when the sun explodes.

Sporting puts him into some hard spots playing long but that technical ability in hold up/link up play is concerning and something that only comes out in these every touch videos. He loses the ball or misplaces passes a lot.

IMO, both him and Sesko have real warts.

Agree. His link up play and his aerial abilities are a major concern for me. Like it or not, if we won’t have any aerial threat upfront, we’ll be found out like Arsene’s 2010s teams pretty soon enough.

Maybe he can be a stop gap, 2-yr striker signing until something better comes along.

If he can score a lot of goals then we should snap him up. Our lot get chances and are just woeful, hopefully he’ll be a much better improvement in front of goal.

Can see them pulling this off with us lingering around

I dont mind if it ends up like Mudryk…

I expect (HOPE) the club has more than one target lined up this window.

These could just be baseless rumors or his manager trying to get a higher bid.

Either way we need to have our main targets wrapped up sooner rather than later to avoid these obnoxious bidding wars.

If we were to sign this guy, what kind of numbers are reasonable to expect from him?

75 contributions or he’s a failure and we should throw him in a skip

Excluding penalties.

Around 20 ish goals clean as he likely won’t be on penalties

And it isn’t just the number of goals it’s when he scores them, against whom and the difficulty of goals with regard to xg for example

In my view someone like Havertz scoring say 15 for a team is not only less goals than an actual bona fide striker will score but in terms of where and when the goals take place the importance of them are likely not on the same level because he will of course squander more, individually not create for himself as well and also score less from higher difficulty situations.

I wouldn’t call a number. If because of his presence and ability our wingers combined score 45 goals and we win the League, but he scores just 5 goals, did he have a bad season?

Agree. I lost it with Havertzafter the United and Newcastle cup exits.

The only 9s to score 20 non-penalty goals in the PL in the last five years are Kane and Haaland.

Realistically, if we sign him he will split the role with Havertz, starting about half the games and appearing in 30+, and score 10-15 non-penalty goals if things go well.
