The fact sesko is going to be the more expensive deal blows my mind.
Deep down AFC probably wants to get both of them.
If it means selling Jesus + Havertz in the future, then I’m for it.
This is a somewhat frustrating decision.
Seems we prefer Sesko because of him being somewhat more fluid in the build up, and because of the age, but he obviously doesn’t have a big advantage to Gyokeres in terms of quality.
I said it many times, I don’t think their age should be an important factor at this stage of our project and that annoys me. Gyokeres is young enough to produce for a good number of years - if he’s good enough - that’s should be the most important factor for both.
I have always backed younger players in up intil this season, but now it’s really the time to win stuff. Again, Gyokeres only turning 27, today! (happy Bday big boy! ) should leave very little if no advantage to Sesko.
And regarding their profiles. Yeah, Sesko, apparently, being better in the build up, is a nice thing, but who is supposed to score the goals? Saka and Martinelli? Lol
I don’t really know what profile should Sesko suit better, as many keep repeating.
Also didn’t we buy both Laca and Auba at similar ages? 26 and 28 respectively?
Yeah but that was the old Arsenal, under Wenger.
I think age has to be a factor in any transfer, given the overall cost of transfers now. That isn’t to say that we shouldn’t sign an older player, but the likelihood is that we would get little or no return on a 27 y/o player on the basis we would offer him a 4-5 year contract. It obviously becomes less of an issue when you are talking about a smaller fee, but for anything sizeable now, I assume clubs have to think about this from a PSR perspective.
When it comes to Gyokeres, I agree that if he is deemed to be the player we need now, we should sign him regardless and think the club would do that. Personally, I think the club prefer Sesko for various reasons and want to pursue him as the first choice striker target.
Btw…who are you calling big boy! My guy is bigger than yours
Does taller=bigger? Never took it that way
I guess ‘bigger’ it is open to interpretation and depends what you’re referring to.
I also meant to say that I like how you have steal a march on me with your new profile pic!
Not surprising, it makes sense as a move. He obviously rates Amorim very highly and he’s familiar with the system.
He’d hit at United too, he’s everything Højlund isn’t
Cunha, Gyokeres and Mbuemo gonna be a dangerous attack
Not good enough for The Arsenal apparently though…
With Bruno behind them.
Should get them 6th spot easily
I would also not be picky about my next team if there’s so little interest from top teams despite those alien figures he’s hit.
If we want Gyokeres we’ll get him over Man U, that shouldn’t concern anyone at all.
Chances of him preferring United are very, very small.
How the hell they’re affording all this though…
Must be based on sales, but I don’t see they’ll be able to get a lot for any of the players on high wages (most of them)
Has he actually said anything to this effect?
Think his agent made some comments to that effect last year.
He to think he doesn’t rate him
If he has eyes he might rate him less than he did a year ago.
Maybe he’s the odd player who this would make a difference for but in general i don’t think this swings things for players. All about what options and money is on the table when decision time comes.
