Not sure I agree with this…I think we need a top quality striker, whether that is immediate impact or someone with more potential and a higher bar (which in my view is Sesko).
He is still very Pen heavy in terms of overall goals, can’t seem to score many headers. As I’ve said before, I will fully get behind this signing, but I do think there are big risks and some pretty big red flags.
Whoever we sign, ALL the pundits are going to be obsessed about the striker and whether he is scoring or not…I am worried about that as a narrative if it doesn’t work out.
That tweet is so ridiculous.
Obviously didn’t have his best game ever but the way the author is trying to make big conclusions based on one game is ridiculous.
I’ve seen much more examples where he’s very quick to turn and does shield the ball well.
“Doesn’t use his arms to hold off defenders”
…
Wish @Sol was here to reply to that, that’s his teritorry.
He does look unusually heavy in that game/vid, probably was somewhat tired.
All in all, I don’t care about this one game… I wouldn’t be surprised to see him turn out a flop, you’ve seen players with even better background ending up like that… But I still don’t see a better option, aside Isak, out there.
Sesko is a nice long term project, but I just don’t have the patience atm.
Good thing I think he’s a top striker to be then isn’t it lol
Spoken enough on Sesko, I don’t believe he’s ready for the window we have right now
You’re talking about pen heavy and I don’t even know if it’s a given that Sesko will break past 16 league goals.
He has less goals this season compared to last in over 600 more minutes, barely hear anyone talking about how he’s not actually pushed on from last season though
Ultimately, I have complete faith in the club to get this right and I’ll be fully behind the player. Unlike any other position though, whoever we buy is going to be under so much scrutiny.
You beat me to that one…obviously scoring 4 goals in the Portuguese League against the second worst team is the true benchmark for success according to @Darkseid !
I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever remaining as to whether he can replicate this level of scoring in the PL.
1st and 4th proper striker goals with good positioning, he’d get a lot like that here.
2nd goal can say the keeper was a bit shit but at least him making space and shooting as usual.
3rd goal, how’s that first touch and shielding the ball again keeper a little bit weak but just good striker play there really.
But it’s only boavista they must be handing him goals. Shame for sesko that nobody seems to hand him any, although he does have 2 against second bottom Holstein Kiel (conceded more than Boavista).
Or maybe can add weight to the fact that the club have extensively scouted Sesko and we tried to sign him last summer…kind of implies the club thinks he is a quality player
